Time for somebody to finally bring this subject up.
both Hyping and Trolling are one of the same. Two wings of the same bird.
Trolls try to get Attention
Hypers try to get Attention
they both are attention seekers. They are both the same. And both should be banned here as bannable offenses.
developers and fanboys alike come here and hype up certain games creating a false persona about a game milking mislead followers.
Warhammer,Guild Wars2, Darkfall, SWTOR are just some more recent examples of this .they hype in misleading vague ways to milk people into buying boxes or subs.
Its immoral!!
How can you ban just trolls for their attention seeking actions, but not these hypers ho doing the same, while also trying to milk money from these many blind victims in the MMO gaming community who don't really know how to ask the right questions to debunk hype?

LMAO .... +1
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
Advertisers try to get attention too. Perhaps we should ban those.
Do you really think people talking excitedly about a game they like is the same as people deliberately flaming/insulting and trying to get a rise of people are the same?
We have very different definitions of these words I guess.
The only similarities: Both are attention seeking, both can be annoying.
You know, I never even considered that people would actually try to hype a game they didn't truly like. I hype the games I am looking forwad to with the hopes of stimulating the population.
Whats the old adage: Takes one to know one.. Seems to me the OP might be guilty of his own trolling/mis-hyping...
just sayin.

Blind fanboyism is as bad as trolling, but trolling is much harder to spot and prove. I know for a fact that feigning ignorance is especially powerful because if the author does not specifically expose himself, there's no way of knowing whether he's for real or not.
What do you do? Start banning posters for stupid questions/statements?

yeah. yeah. *sigh*
It would be a turn for the better around here as of late imo.
OP, when creating this topic you just tried to get our attention.
If you logic is that hypers and trolls should be banned because they try to get attention, then by that same logic you should be banned because you tried to get our attention. I should also be banned because I tried to get your attention by posting this post. These forums would be much quieter because every poster would have to be banned for seeking attention of other forum users.
So, no one who has a strong like for a game shouldn't be allowed in a MMO forum, as well as someone who doesn't like it?
In your vision, forums would be the most boring experience on the planet.
Poster 1:"Hey, MMO X is ok."
Poster 2:"I have no feelings on it one way or the other."
Poster 3" I like corn."
Poster 4: "Yeah, MMO X is ok."
That sounds like a less than satisfying experience...
I don't believe in banning posts in either category, I put them under the category of "generating discussion" and don't read any that don't interest me.
If really annoyed, I can always use the block feature but otherwise I support people having the discussions they wish to without people always trying to suppress them, particularly with the "troll" label.

I always hate seeing Fastfood advertisements. They always trolling me hyping about their food which look all good and then when i go to (Mcdonalds, KFC, Wendys, Burger King) I always get shit. I vote that we just out right ban advertisement all together.
...I mean really...what are you expecting? Advertisement meant in general is to produce Hype to people to get them to invest in your product. Hyping and trolling isnt the same thing. If you was playing a game you really enjoy wouldn't you go to your best friend and tell them all about it? so you're saying doing that on the internet should get you banned? This has got to be a troll.
And what do you mean by "Hype" exactly? before or after the product is out? Fan-boying or facts? I dont really understand, usually you look up a game before investing time into downloading/buying it. So you really shouldn't base your opinion off that one person on the forums.
Oh everybody this is the greatest game in the world.
we have a WoW killer here.
This game is the largest sandbox ever!!
this game has extreme RvR the world has never seen before.
you hate balance issues? Well our game has total balance for PvP. Check it out.
there are too many to give examples of. Want to see some more detailed hyping?
also hype is short for hyperbole.
being interested in something and hyping are two different things. Also advertising is bannable here without permission anyway.

Banning is already a little over done. No need to thin out the active forum users any more than it already is.
"Should I reply to that guy that I disagree with? No! He might report me and I'll be banned for 30 days!"
Take away the hype and the trolls, what is left... some pretty awful ads on a webpage.
Hate to tell you this, but everything about this website is geared towards rumors, hype, and downright flame wars...
There is a difference between hype and trolling. Trolling is having an intention of stirring negative emotion and create arguments within the community which become harmful to any site. That's why it's banned. I can understand why you want you ban those one sentence "This game is the best EVER". If that was posted on a new thread I wouldn't call that hype i would call that spam and would get deleted regardless.
If there was a long detailed version where they explain why they thought the game was the best that would be their opinion. Now if they are open to discussions depends on them, which is usually the point of forums.
