Now, see...that's interesting.  I also just noticed they call it "Endurance" not durability in the Soul Attunement vendor.

This kind of stuff is exactly why DP needs more of a tutorial, or at least more of those annoying popups.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

The only problem with stat point games: Only Ragnarok Online did it balanced and fair in my humble opinion. Of course for the longest time you couldn't reset your stats on RO either. Nothing was mentioned about max level or how long it takes to get there in the article. I know you've only been playing a week.

I honestly wish some new games would come out with a balance like RO achieved prevamp. And the grind. While many people don't have the time, even me once my job starts, the only game with any kind of long term longevity that I've seen successful seems to be Eve.

Also: All this pay to win stuff is a joke. From the article itself there's no indication that the game is pay to win. And again I stick to my previous posts when I say every game is pay to win you just need to find the right gold/isk/zeny whatever seller. You can buy raid slots in WoW and Gold so not even soulbound gear is safe from that kind of thing. If a game is entirely PvE, like it is now, who even cares?

This game so far has been a bit fun for myself. It can be a little pricey at first if you want it all now, but if you we're to spend 60$ at first then 15$ a month you'll have everything np in a few months. So really in the long run it's fair. And a even better option, wait till SOE has another 2x or 3x sc promos. Also, a few months down the road when people get the loot to afford some land, the pvp battles are going to be a blast !

the unlocks are per character each character would require more unlocks the same slots.

did the dailys.. got the shells.. check the stores.. inventory slots/ Bank slots/ dragon slots... not for purchase....

so back to bug reports... and fast respawning mobs

So in 3 months of normal sub cost you will have everything unlocked.  Everything else in the game can be earnt via daily quest. And I mean everything. Totally nickel and diming!

I mean, do you people even know what that means anymore? This isn't like Runes of Magic where its compulsory spending.

P2W = In my eyes, where you're able to PAY to WIN the game, right?

So yeah, in this case... Dragon's Prophet isn't pay to win.  It's more "Pay to not be frustrated."

I don't know, it seems P2W when anyone who isn't buy hammers wont be able to keep the best gear.

dude you can get hammers from DAILYS!!!!! learn about a game before you  complain...

mmorpg.com should really add another rating meter on the website. Call it the Pay to Play meter and base it off how "free" the game actually is.

1.0 being not really free to play at all. 10.0 being entirely free to play.

Seriously ,with all the access you guys get now, help us out so we aren't buying bag space, bank space, mounts, hotbars, pvp matches, epic weapons ,etc... GIve us a heads up.

Played through level 25 and haven't had any lag issues with combat or game (check your rig).  I played through level 20 before I decided to spend any SC.  It is NOT pay to win.  Oh, and you can't really WIN an mmorpg... enjoy the journey, people.  I think combat is similar to TERA, having played TERA for three or four months, but it isn't as pretty as TERA.  I agree with some of you who talked about having better explanations of different menus and tools in the game.  It wasn't until yesterday I accidentally hit "I" and found the achievements page full of coins I had ignorantly earned.

I also like that you can use coin, public event rewards, or SC to upgrade weapons, crafting and such.

My biggest complaint of this BETA is the low numbers, but I'm on the lesser populated server, so that's partially my fault.  Another would be the lack of ranged combos for the ranger  (ranger has some bad-ass melee combos and escapes).  Oh, and gunblades sound like an old typewriter.

But, c'mon people, Murphy included, this is a BETA, right?  I think it's more of a BETA than people give it credit for.

Game could of been so good, but yet another RUSHED out "open beta" MMO that will fail, and the whole cash shop where you can buy gear just ruins it for me.

TheJoda, look at all the game breaking gear available in the marketplace.  Oh, wait. There aren't any.  Also, anything you buy with SC, you can also buy with Dragon Insignia (earned by doing public events (similar to GW2)).

Great article. This game's cash shop is identical in the things you can buy to Runewaker's other title, Runes of Magic, for those of you who haven't played it. You'll notice they both have a sort of Primary class (Same in both titles) with a way to specialize further using your Secondary Class (Dragon in DP) to allow you to customize how your character plays. It's the same basic concept of using a primary class with a secondary modifier and really doesn't bring anything new to the table except for some things like Flying Mounts and Dragon Equips. Both games have a heavy emphasis on doing quests daily and having bland/nonexistent storyline. It's nothing that would make me want to play it over any other games I play.

Edit: Repair Hammers are in Runes of Magic as well, good for repairing armor if you died in an instance and don't want to find a vendor to repair. Convenience.

I played it for close to 2 hours when I had my first Flying Dragon that I tamed and mounted at level 7, Dragon was level 9.

I do like the fact that you can choose to run instanced material alone, in early content atleast. Also, don't know if you guys have tried it on lowest settings but enemies, allies and dragons render choppy beyond a certain distance that cuts down on rendering power and time, which I love because I run it on a laptop.

I played WoW up until WotLK, played RoM for 2 years and now Rift.
I am F2P player. I support games when I feel they deserve my money and I want the items enough.

    Bill,

My impressions almost are a copy of your post.  I posted in another thread my opinions.  I concur on the combat speed and interesting fight mechanics.  The dragon system is a very very interesting mechanic.  You find your skills and also find new dragons, by new dragons I mean a bit more stats and a different skin.  I am hearing rumors of rare dragons, but I am also hearing rumors that rarity doesn't = better.

The massive experience and loot section in the beginning is extremely true.  Then you realize that the loot you are getting is not very interesting and around late lvl 20's the experience and leveling gets very long.  Also, correct me if I am wrong here guys, at least 50 more levels to go at a decreasing rate.  I don't mind a grind if there is an interesting story, or a twist, change of landscape, but damn it gets boring quick.

Oddly enough, with all the bugs and negative air my post creates, the two above mentioned strengths of the game compel me to play a bit more for some reason.  I think it is because I am really, really waiting for a game to put together a mold breaking concept and these systems may be a precursor.

Bill is this game any good? Been seeing it around lately. Looks alright, but I'm weary since most mmorpg's are really not that great anymore.

  • GhavriggGhavrigg Member RarePosts: 1,308

I am sorta enjoying this game. Not sure if I'll stick with it long, but it's pretty fun so far, especially the dragons. Pretty cool. The combat lag is a bit annoying at times, but it's not terrible. Sometimes I'll start attacking and somehow rubberband behind the enemies facing away from them and shit like that, though.

Also questing is relatively boring, and the cutscene voice acting doesn't even match the text most of the time. But still, not bad so far up to level 13 anyway.
