This week, we took a look back at a Beta version of World of Warcraft. Looking back gives us a chance to reflect on a game that has recently celebrated its 1 year anniversary. How far has the game come? Does the old preview hold the test of time? Let us know.

Cheers,

Having played WoW since the release until a high level, I totally agree with the preview. It was fun for about three months, and then I found myself looking for a new game. I think gamers who have played a few RPG's, all would like to see something more innovative now, something that goes beyond the standard formula. Of course, everyone has his/her own ideas of what that might be. Perhaps the developers are in a rut and imaginative people are hard to find.

Well it was pretty much the same formula as all the others out there.  Right out of the mold.  We would like to see something innovative Brynn, and imaginative people are not that hard to find.  Just take a look at the Developer's Corner section of MMORPG.COM.  We have been posting all kinds of interesting new ideas there and discussing them extensively.  Developers caught in the clone-a-game rut should really check those threads out.

With a little imagination and a willingness to try something new, a truly dynamic game could be produced that would have unlimited playability instead of boredom after a month or two.
