Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous how much is for sale. That said, as soon as someone can buy levels and truly high end gear your statement is incorrect. Right now anything I can buy is only slightly better than what I have just from level 58 through 60 questing and anything that is significantly better still has in-game requirements like faction rep to use.

Yea it looks like they've gone overboard with that.I'm playing it though and maybe they will cut some of that out before it hits live.They probably received some negative input on that.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, especially since I agree that way too much stuff is for sale. But how will people buy their way past specific portions of content? They still need to level. If solo leveling is their thing there was never enough content in the first place so the only way they'll be skipping is if they are constantly using xp boosts - and even then they won't be skipping much unless they also keep full rested xp all the time. If they want high end raid gear they'll need to raid. If they want high end pvp gear they'll need to pvp. If they want high end world gear they'll have to do invasions, instant adventures, rifts, and faction notoriety grinding. The only thing they'll be skipping is the part where they equip that green drop they just earned from a quest.

So then they cant buy their way to the end, if they still have to lvl, still have to grind rep, still have to work for it; but instead of buying the gear with currency their buying it with money. Their not skipping anything!
I don't see how someone can watch this video and see rift's new payment model as a bad thing. You've just got to be plagued by pure and unmoving ftp hate and are beyond reasoning with. All that talk about REX was purely speculation and the authors opinion. IMO, It won't be and isn't broken.
This game will be the best value computer game ever made once it goes ftp, period.
.. and for people who already own Storm legion, it's like MMO ftp heaven. It's not possible for it to be any better.

imo both RIFT f2p model and cash shop are excellent. At least compared with the rest models in the mmo market. GJ TRION
blind fanboism much? this has to be just about the most pay to win system ever released for a free to play western mmorpg . Go see the myriad of threads and arguments against this crap on their own website. Just because you are getting something for free doesnt mean the game is going to be any less pay to win. They are selling expert gear so people can by pass experts and go directly into tier 1 raiding . They have lock boxes throughout all levels that contain orange gear (relic quality gear) which you have to buy keys for if you are not a subscriber or even one of those if you use your free weekly key already. These guys are desperate and showing their true colors with Rift . Watch how much pvp goes up for sale soon to since they already have the boosts going into game for subs and on the market. You can try to defend this all you wish but all it shows to anyone with a neutral opinion is you are a blind fan wiling to take anything this company throws at them because you love the game so much.
If appreciating a decent ftp model makes me a fanboi, then I guess I'm a fanboi. The group described in my second sentence has it's first member.
And it's not expert's gear, it's normal dungeon gear. Have a look first before making wild and inaccurate statements. Even then, you can't even use it without the reputation.. and the best way to get the rep is to, you guessed it, do the dungeons.

if you dont like a f2p model in general is fine. but compared to every other f2p mmo then RIFT's model is excellent.
the cash shop gear is lower even than expert dungeons. anyway there is no point get in fight with trolls. haters gonna hate

first off know it all i just played the game for the last month you obviously didnt and watched some knee jerk video while we talked to devs daily. They are selling expert gear go check the forum posts about it so yes you will be ready to raid with your wallet . You guys love leaving out so much crap just to argue with others because majority of the people see it for what it is. You get something for free because you are too cheap to pay a sub and then all of a sudden its the best free to play model in the world! No its not , sorry they sell gear and just about every single thing in the game. They even inflated plat prices so high on housing items that they push you into using the cash shop . No point in arguing though you are right because 15 bucks a month is no where near the value of pay to win free to play games.... Its one thing to sell leveling gear and boosts , its another to sell relic leveling gear and expert gear in the cash shop and inflate the plat prices so high you are either going to farm forever or you will spend some money. Ill say it again since im such a troll to you two guys that are just cheap , go read the real forums and not some advertising piece for their free to play system and see all the complaints about it on the public test server.
I didn't know they had done this.. and I find it pretty interesting since when they sent out questionnaires about subscriber bonuses this is one of things I suggested to make subbing more worthwhile. I explained how it worked in DCUO with The Vault and suggested it would be a good idea.

Look, my main is in all expert dungeon gear. When I copied over to the PTR to check out the cash shop, there wasn't one piece of gear in that shop that was better than mine. Most of it was a mile off. Some planar gear is better than the expert dungeon gear as well. I don't care how many people are complaining about it on the official forums because they are wrong, plain and simple.
Some people just like to whine because that's what they are is whiners. The F2P model they re doing is great for many types of players. My wife and I, hate P2W models, but just modestly leveling up n quested gear and a couple drops, blow away anything you can buy. This is not P2W in any way, and is one of, if not the best F2P I ve seen.
Not quite sure why I'm being insulted here for trying to inform people how RIFT's cash shop works, but whatever.
For the record, dimension items have not been "inflated," a word which implies that they've raised prices. They have not raised prices on anything currently in the shop. They have added items that are very high priced and this may be an attempt to push people into the cash shop. It may also be in anticipation of an inflated economy because of all the added people in RIFT. Either way, the building blocks of dimensions on the PTS are the same platinum cost as they have always been, as are the dimensions themselves.
Also - in an earlier post you talked about epic quality goods in lock boxes. Since I have not had a lock box drop for me on the PTS yet, I did what you suggested and went looking on the riftgame forums. The complaints I found which were not pure speculation were that level 50-59 lock boxes were only dropping level 50 gear so the current problem is exactly the opposite of what you are claiming. Once a person hits level 60 I would imagine that outside of dailies, they'll likely be getting gear from dungeons - not running around the world killing stuff and hoping for cool loots.
