Few words from a newcomer to SWG (I hate the word noob - has a negative meaning).
The game is ... very good. It lacks a bit of stuff here and there but the whole "image" is nicely cut.
Playability - great. User interface - intuitional. Character developement (in the own class) - ok ( I would add bit more "special abilities"), lack a bit of "crafter side-developement".
Customer support - fast in-game response. Out-of-the-game customer support: nice and helpful, sometimes takes too long to wait for response (to few employees??)

I have invited a friend of mine (who do not play ANY game at all) - and she was just stuuned with effects. I allowed her to follow the tutorial instructions and to learn "how to play". She has chosen Leia picture ... and began to play. She was able to make few lvl's without any problem. "Follow the ribbon" idea worked here.

Just curious why you think customer support is fast, nice and helpful? I found it to be the worst out of everygame I've ever played. Cmon lets get real having to wait for 6 months during a now beta state for any of the real issues to be addressed is just comical. Save your $ and wait 6 months for this one.

this opinion will change soon im willing to bet. Sorry to say it but everyone likes teh spoace station , unfourtunately the rest of the game is nothing like that. I hope you continue to enjoy it .

See we need people willing to pay for what everyone else give us for free. If these people wont pay to beta test it , then there is zero chance it gets better. So im all for people who like the game to pay for this service ( heh), the only reason SOE handling of this isnt illegal ( because it is ievery other aspect of business) is that no one on the internet has tried it before, and the lack of CSR ( go read the 233,000 unanswered posts on tech support for proof) , and being misled by game promises ( this latest letter is an exact copy of the one they put out when NGE was moved from test center to live... so in other words in the last 3 weeks that have fixed not one issue and they admit it.) and game issues such as complete lack of content for players after they hit level 30 ... the game just completely stops because ( again said by SOE) the code hasnt been written yet.

but we know this is a beta test, the devs admit its in beta and will be 6 months minimum until just the collision detection is fixed, not tested , not debugged, 6 months just to write it. So as every other company out there sees that people are willing to pay for play in beta i can forsee the end of free beta tests for games soon, as another consequence of supporting SOE in this effort.

But go ahead keep paying for servies that are free from others. I dont mind and besides in 6-8 months they just MIGHT I say MIGHT actually do something on that list , ( dont hold your breath in 2 years they have never once finished an issues list). Please people keep paying to test it for us , we need you to as we move on to stable platforms and better run CSR departments , etc keep this swg ship afloat so we can come back to say i told you so in 6 months when they release the NGE2.0 and dump another set of completely different bugs on top of those they havent fixed from day 2.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the game. You will find many people who disagree with you on these and other forums, and a few who will agree. The people who enjoy the game are mostly playing the game, those who don't are mostly not playing any game and hanging out on the forums. Most people who try the game without any pre-convieved ideas will love it. They just changed the game drastically, so many long time players feel betrayed and are quite upset about it.

I don't feel betrayed, I gave the game an honest go and tested as many aspects as I could and found it lacking in too many areas to justify a monthly fee of $14.95 SORRY I refuse to play for a 90 level MMORPG that has been out for 2 and a half YEARS and has been in development and production for over FIVE years which runs out of content at CL30.

I also am not 'hanging out on the forums not playing any other games'... I have to give a big THANK YOU to SOE and LucasArts because were it not for them screwing up SWG I would probably never have given DAOC another try... Because of the NGE I did exactly that and am having more fun playing DAOC, literally and seriously, than I have ever had playing any of the dozens of MMORPG's I've tried over the years. The ONLY MMORPG that I enjoyed more was the Beta Test for MPBT3025 before it got cancelled by EA Games.

Man is this guy just posting direct copies of the SOE press release that defies reality? I understand being a fanboi , but whooo dont become a liar to back it up. Its ok to like and AND post the truth you know. The game is about deserted all servers run light occasional yone or 2 to medium , alot of vets have quit but SOE wont refund tyheir balance so they have on avg up to 60 day s left so most of the people you run into in the game( i played bria and ahazi) do not like it themselves and have no problem telling you why.

It's because I've been accused of being on the Sony payroll twice, by two different people, and it suddenly occurred to me that it is impossible to reason with people with their heads that far up their own asses. You guys aren't just dicks. You're idiots too. You live in some sort of fantasy world where the NGE is a constant slap in your oft victimized face, which you believe gives you all the excuse you need to be the biggest turd in the world. Some people really do feel victimized and can't see what bastards they are being, but some people, like I would guess you would fit in, just want to be bastards because of low self esteem or something and any excuse is a good excuse.

Nobody can post any opinion even remotely positive here without being flamed, insulted, or accused of dishonorable intentions. The jerks are just too loud and purposely try to drown out any positive comments. Positive comments exist, and in far greater quantities than than those who oppose the NGE would be willing to admit (because if they admit that people actually, *gasp*, like the NGE, then they won't have that unified front needed to terrorize SOE into rolling back the servers - which isn't going to happen, but hey, at least you get to terrorize SOE just out of retribution, eh?)

You have no idea Squidi, you take a couple of hard hits and your all bent out of shape. I defended the CU for months and took the hits. I suggest you get some perspective and quit just outright personally insulting people. Everyone knows who the flamers are here. Get off the crusade and you will do yourself alot of good.

Probably because I know so much about SOE from when I was in the Guide program.

They really just don't think at all like normal people. Even the GUIDES were treated like red headed step children.

Ahhh these talks about the Guide program brought back some fond memories from the early days of EQ LOL I still remember when Ozzy went OFF on Smed!!! LOL!!!

id like to see where all this positive stuff is, all i have been doing is asking for you postive guys to produce the proof of your convictions .

More pro NGE than we admit ... where? what server ? lets see SS , there are 1000's of SS out there showing empty worlds and empty server loads. Lets some postive proff thats not the EXACT same thing said in a SOE press release. Usually one over 6 months old.

Postive posts? again where ? they playing the game so cant post ? see above.

Pro nge called out other pro NGE on various forums only to find themselves alone and feeling stupid about it.

Dont gripe, do counter argue ,deliver something to make us say damn! maybe NGE is worth looking at just for this 1 thing ... find that 1 thing and hype it. hell find something and actually give some kinda insight other than cut-paste a SOE document

And those of us who were Beta guides (guides during the Beta Test) were given a free CD key to the game so we didn't have to buy it. Which was kinda cool.

Problem was that even then the Guides didn't always get much information from the GM staff. (oh by the way, in EQ (and I suspect EQ2 and SWG and PlanetSide) the GM's are just glorified CS reps, they ain't devs by any stretch. A lot of the times I wound up calling a Dev I knew from beta on the phone to let him know about a bug that players had found. The Guide Board bug page was humongous with updates from the GM's few and far between.

I bet Wepps will tell us the same thing about the ammount of feedback the community reps in SWG got from SWG's folks I'd be shocked if they got more communication than the guides did.

We'd get told about major stuff but we honestly were almost as mushroomized as the players. Made our lives a living hell eventually. And was the biggest contributor to guide burnout. Wanting to help the players but not ever getting answers from the GM staff really really sucked.

Glad to hear they kept doing that. It was one of the very few perks to being a guide. I remember at one point my friends still in the program said they stopped making the account free and started giving out a second acount for guides to use that was specifically for their guide toons and nothing else. I didn't realize they were still waiving the fee on their main account though.
