The latest in a series of cross over events between Defiance the television show and Defiance the MMO is about to begin. We caught up with Senior Game Designer Trick Dempsey to talk about the plague update. See what he had to say before heading to the comments to discuss!
MMORPG: How will this affect the TV show, more than a normal episode story-arc?
Trick Dmpsey: The town of Defiance is not equipped to handle Phase 4 of the disease. Their weapons are not as advanced as those in San Francisco, and their lawkeeper forces are not equipped with EGOs. In short, a prolonged outbreak in Defiance would destroy the town. When the first symptoms appear in Defiance, ark hunters in the bay will not have long at all to prevent a phase 45 outbreak in Defiance.

Good stuff. I like the tie-ins with the show, which seems pretty good in its own right.

Pretty sure that should be "begin".
"As you read these words, a release is seven days or less away or has just happened within the last seven days those are now the only two states youll find the world of Tyria."...Guild Wars 2
the game is actually pretty damn good.
there are undoubtedly things i would like to see added, more mmorpg stuffz, but aside from that i have unwittingly racked a pile of hours lately playing.

um, is cross over the same as what people do in the game world effects the show? Or is it an "event" launching with the episode?
So... if the players don't defend the nanotec and the cure isn't made, then the Defiance TV show folds, the west coast and the game folds. Because of that the developers are fired. Dang, pressure is on. You hold their jobs in your hands. You better participate NOW MAN! RIGHT NOW!
KILL THE MUTANT FREAKS!

This game really needs to go F2P soon
Population is non-existent compared the Steam free weekend

so what happens if the game flops, and from what I been hearing it is.

It's too bad the hit boxes are still horrible...
This game looks 100x better on the computer than the xbox I think.
All my friends unfortunately own xboxes and don't have money for "good" computers so I ended up playing it on my xbox...granted my computer "rocks" somewhat and I could play max settings, but I guess friends are where it is at!
Looks so "eyepopping" though in that screenshot, wish that is what I saw on my xbox...
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
EoN never made it to daylight, Rift going F2P, Defiance already belly up before the printing on the box has dried incl. 80% layoffs...
Guess someone at Trion's HQ thought that if everything else fails, jump on the zombie bandwagon and perhaps you save the day.
This game fucking sucks.
I cry when I see how bad gaming has become. Took me 5min to figure this one out, rather spend a weekend in a caravan, buried in sand, with Bill Murphy as bunkmate.
The horror -_-
