What is the official name of Everquest Next?

in EverQuest Next

Hi guys,

Do any one knows the oficial name of this projet/game? Everquest 3, Everquest Next or what one?

If there is not and official name yet, what one do you think will be the neme for this great game?

    The name is still unknown. But if I had to guess... EQ 3. They stated years ago (3, I believe) that EQ Next was a re-imagining of Everquest, and not a sequel. So, they may be tempted to go with something other than EQ 3.

    It won't be EQ3. Smedley stated before that he regrets the name for EQ2 because it was never meant to replace EQ1.

    Some are guessing World of Norrath. I don't think this is right because it sounds too much like World of Warcraft.

    SOE is trying to distance themselves from themeparks and EQ2. It will definitely be EverQuest something, but I'm thinking it will be very unique.

    If the recent trends are anything to go by, it's going to be Everquest One. :)

    I think Everquest Next is a great name.

    It is like saying it is a somehow the Next Everquest. Not tied to EQ2 but more homage back to the original.

    After reading through the 'Modifying the Landscape' thread, the only name that really seems remotely appropriate is Arsony Online.

    Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

    I think they will keep it as "Everquest Next". No need to change it, that will be suffice.
    "The King and the Pawn return to the same box at the end of the game"

    Everquest Next sounds awesome now... but wil become quickly dated and worst of all irrelevant in the years to come. Best they pick a name that fits it story.

    I know Smed has mentioned that the name would change and that it was just a working title. Maybe SoE changed their mind.
