Ok by this time I'm sure you're very sick of answering questions but I have a few that I would really liked answers too.
1.My friends(2)and I are going to get this game tomorrow. One friend is going as a Magic person (haven't decided what realm yet) the other a tank. I was planning on going as a stealther but I heard they weren't that good. Should I go as someone else?or are Stealthers fine?
2. PVP is something I consider neccesary for a mmorpg. I heard DAOC is the best. Now could someone please explain the difference between Battlegrounds and the Frontiers.
3. Finally what realm seems the least populated on the classic server Gareth so my friends and I can join em!!
Thanks

hi there, better get a drink.. this may be quite long.
right 1st off youll find that the daoc community in general, us and eu are great, course thats said about all mmos, but tbh WoW's community is rubbish and that is the truth!. anyway im getting sidelined here. my point is ask as many questions as you like, you will get answers
anyway, answering your 1st point, sounds like you have the beginnings of a good group, you will be pleased to know that casters are always good, tanks are getting beefed up in patches to come, especially the main tanks, (warrior, armsman, hero) more hit points and better magic resistance are some of the good things!. anyway, stealthers are good, alot of people play them, depending on your realm tho there are different ones obviously, im currently in midgard and have a shadow blade and a hunter, both stealth and i enjoy it immensely. however i reccomend reading up on the daoc website or google the classes ur intrested in, and ofc read forums. but ultimatly its up to ur play style, in a nut shell tho stealthers are good, especially assasin classes. remember to look on the character builder website to get a jist of how to spec your char.
2, daoc pvp is pretty much everywhere, its the end game and its frantic, depending on your server ofc. the battle grounds are areas from lvl 1-45 which prepare you for the big 45-50 out door areas where the stuff really happens, its huge. the BG's are generally small affairs introducing u to the concepts of team work, seige warfare and capturing and defending keeps, castles, outposts. during all this u will ofc die and kill, when u kill u get realm points which in turn increace your rank which inturn gives u points to spend on new class specific abilitys. and ofc its fun smashing heads in that help ya?
3. normally you will be told wich realm needs your help, its certinly not hibernia. whatever you do i implore you not to roll a hib and create a vampiir. too many of them. roll a infiltrator or a valkarie.. all good. read your manuel, look at the forums, youll find your way mate
I am going to do this in reverse.
3. Midgard. It is always the lowest on almost every server. Just whatever you do please do not play an alb. It has been 4 years and they still arn't extinct. How many do I need to kill before the madness stops????
2. Battlegrounds are level specific. They are usually around 4-5 levels per BG. At higher levels when you start to get realm points for killing enemies they put a cap on how many realm points you can get before you cannot get any more in that BG. Further, there is an overall cap and it will not let you in to that BG even if you are the right level if you have too many realm points. They are adding a function to turn both your xp and realm points off if you would rather stay there longer. Frontiers, or NF, is an open area wihtout level restrictions or realm point restrictions. While there is PvE content out there, most of the time the area is fill with level 50's. NF is huge with lots of towers and keeps. The BG at most will have 1 keep and 3 towers. It is a much smaller area.
1. As long as you are planning on spending most of your time in a group then stealthers are fine. A stealther will act as a light tank while grouped. As long as you have a heavy tank to take the agro and a caster to kill it then you will be fine. Stealthers are great in RvR areas and you will have a lot of fun with them. Archers are the easiest class to play. Assassins have a much hard time because of some realm abilities that archers get allowing archers to see assassins now.
I will point out that without some type of healer you are going to have some downtime. The tank will need to be healed and casters will need some power. So if you decide to not play a stealther then some type of healer or someone with a power regen will help you out.
As to the healer thing:
You can get by with a CASTER as your healer as long as you pick a caster that has heal abilities (Mentalist in Hib, Spirit Master in Mid and I forget which of the wizzies gets heal spells).
Also, if you choose to play a bard type (bard in hib, minstrel in alb and skald in Mid) they all get regen type abilities they can play for downtime reduction as well.
But in REAL combat you WILL want a good healer. As I said a healer caster can fill in nicely but it will reduce their nuke ability a bit.
