Are all 1.0 owners invited to PC beta 3?

spankybusspankybus Member UncommonPosts: 1,367

I'm confused. I got a newsletter saying all 1.0 owners are invited to download the client...but I have no clue how...is this invite only or are all old 14 players invited and I just can't find the client?

i did not receive a separate email with any beta keys.

All players who purchased Version 1.0 will be able to download the client for FFXIV: ARR free of charge. For more information on the various changes in FFXIV: ARR, please proceed to the official website.

I tried calling customer service, but was no hold for over 20 minutes...and it kept saying have your ticket number ready...which I didn't have...I just gave up.

I too bought this game. I remember the gamestop employee over the phone when I asked if they had it saying, "are you sure? you know this game is really bad right?"

I play MMOs for the Forum PVP

"All FFXIV service account holders qualify as testers in phase 3"

I thought that meant, as well as what was said in the news letter, that we were to be invited to this part of the beta?

I'm confused, sad, and annoyed all at the same time. It's like, an explosion of emotions of wanting the FFXIV fix.

I thought it just meant you don't have to buy the new game.  When game launches you get two weeks trial and don't have to buy it again.  I played the original also, not really interested in playing the new game, but I did get the e-mail about how you don't have to buy it again.

That's true, it does mean you don't have to buy it again. However, it also stated that 1.0 players were granted access to beta phase 3.

okay, you are right.  In fact I see they sent a beta code also to register. So if you bought the original you are all set to be a beta tester.

"All players who hold a service account from Version 1.0 have been granted access to the beta test."

Was part of what was in the news letter, under the beta testing section. So I would have thought that meant that everyone who has bought the game before the servers had shut down, would have access to this beta phase.

If that's not the case, then they need to learn how to word their sentences a bit better. >_>; For derps like me, that's quite confusulating.

My question is:  I will be able to download the new FFXIV for free because I bought the 1.0 game, but will I have to PROVE I bought the 1.0 game or will the fact that I had an account be sufficient?

    ---

I only ask is because I still own the 1.0 disk, but seem to have misplaced the code that came along with it (if it did indeed come with one of those xxxx-xxxx-xxxx codes.

    --

So I am hoping that it will recognize that my account name was indeed active during 1.0 and will allow me to download it for free.  If they require some code...well...damn lol

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

As long as you go with the original account that you have activated FFXIV 1.0 with, I do believe you'll be able to download it for free. I don't think you'll need your old codes to be able to do so.

As long as your account was attached to your code then you'll get it for free. Should have something like this: http://puu.sh/3fRly

I bought my copy during a Steam sale ages ago and played for a month and forgot about it.  I just looked in my email and saw the beta code, so I guess you don't need to do a thing, or at least I didn't.

I'm saying yes.You may not have a key yet,but I suspect you will get one in the next day or so.I say this as a 1.0 account holder that didn't even apply for the ARR beta, but received a key.

Some day I'm going to put a sword through your eye and out the back of your skull!

People are still getting invites so they haven't stopped, not that you shouldn't contact support or be worried.  There is always a chance of your email blocking it/spam/wrong email/them making a mistake.  There were hundreds of thousands of people who bought 1.0 and they are sending them all invites (far fewer than that were in phase 1/2).

I've never sent out such a mass email so I don't know the logistics of it, but they are obviously sending them in batches of some kidn if people have been getting them for the last 24 hours.  So far they haven't said anything about being done sending invites, or going back on their word to invite everyone who had 1.0 so I assume they are working on it (not sure how helpful support will be though with so many people swamping them, unless you know specifics like you got the wrong registration code for your region.

I'm sure it sucks but this isn't the only weekend for beta 3.

Yeah, I was in 1.0 beta but never owned 1.0. I got an invite last night as well. I'm already level 17 (all solo so far by the way for anyone that is interested). I'm going to see how far I can comfortably get solo.
