Post apoc Movie titles....

Hardware-DCHardware-DC Member Posts: 95

I thought it might be cool to have people list movies titles they have seen that mirror the theme and style of our favorite game play environment.  Might offer some new title names to enjoy during our wait!

1) Mad Max

2) Mad Max "Beyond Thunderdone"

3) 28 Days

4) After the Fall of New York

Here are a few... some good, some bad and some downright ugly:

    Tank Girl

    Escape from NY/Escape from LA

    Hell Comes to FrogTown

    DeathRace 2000

    Night of the Comet

    The Stand

    12 Monkeys

    Judge Dredd

    Soylent Green

    A Boy and His Dog

Here are some that were pretty enjoyable I thought. Though I have to say I always took a liking to "A Boy and His Dog" :

    • HardWare (Dylan MacDermot )
    • Panic In The Year Zero ( Frankie Avalon )
    • Quiet Earth ( Definitely one of my favorites. If you have seen it, you know that uncanny feeling it gives you when he finds out. Don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.)
    • Night of the Comet ( Basic comet hits earth, the valley girls go shopping.. etc, etc.. )
    • Steel Dawn ( Border-line)
    • Blade Runner (more of a cyber-punk feeling than post-apocolyptic)
    • WestWorld (old Yul Brenner )
    • RollerBall ( The orginal, not the remake with LL Cool J. )
    • Planet Of The Apes ( Charlton Heston )
    • The Last Man On Earth ( Vincent Price )
    • Blood of Heroes ( Rutger Hauer )

That's it for my movie archive. You could probably add the Matrix, but that is hardly classical in any way hehe image

oops almost forgot a Boy And His Dog. Don't own that one unfortunately. Still a great one though.

UGH, Land of the Dead was SO SO bad. It gives zombies a bad name!

Whaaa? Did you like Dawn of the Dead? I thought Land was a good sequel, it was interesting to see how a society would develop after something like a zombie infestation... which is why I would put it in the post-apoc category. It was at least something a little different for a zombie movie... people vs people instead of just people vs zombie.

Dawn of the Dead the redux was fantastic. Land of the Dead was so cheesy I couldn't stand to watch it all at once.

I felt there was nothing realistic about that society, it would never unfold that way. Money would be the last thing anyone cares about after the end of civilization. And them staying there in that tower forever would never work, supplies of their taste would only last so long and you have to keep going farther and farther out to get more. The whole concept of the movie to me just fell apart about 20 minutes in.

EDIT: I did find one cool thing about it, it had John Leguizamo in it and I like him.

I'm a huge romero fan, and yeah, I have to admit, after all the waiting for a new flick, Land of the Dead (and the game too) was a bit of a dissapointment, but for good news, they are already working on a sequel because the europeans really gave it a good box-office push, plus sales of the DVD worldwide.

Never heard of night of the Comet.  I will have to look that one up.  Steel Dawn was halfway decent, I kinda liked it.  Waterworld was horrible, but definately counts.  LOL

I don't know if I would class Terminator 2 as a post apoc movie, only the begining part.  I wish they would have done more with the future world of the H-K's and robots wars.  Would have been an awesome prequel movie to have done.
