If you can only pick one thing GW2 needs to improve what would it be?

Housing.

Yes we have a "personal" neighbourhood but I want to be able to buy/build my own house and decorate it in that neighbourhood.

Also I would like to be able to customize the interior how I see fit.

How about you guys?

    Make it harder, more challenging.

They did in Beta and people whined so they dumbed it down.

I would put a mechanic in the game, something along the line of PROGRESSION, that would make me want to log in and work on a character whether he is level 1 or 80.  At 80 progression basically disappears and it's all about stupid crap.  I don't feel invested at all in my toons.

Music instruments that you can equip. I want my charr to play some good riffs on a medieval guitar and combo with other players.

Give players a real reason to craft other than using it as a means to get quick levels.

I was not a huge fan of the original Guild Wars, but I did think the story was well done.  GW2 falls down in the story department.    The personal story is rather lackluster.  I would love to see an epic story along the lines of GW quality.   There is so much else I like about the game but feel it is just lacking in the story department.

Did you buy the game without knowing what their end game was about?   Would you buy a car with an automatic transmission, drive it for awhile, then be mad that it isn't a manual?

Only one thing keeps me from continuing to play GW2:

The camera. If they would allow me to raise the center point (so it centers on my toons head not the lower back) when zooming in a bit, then I think I would still be playing.

I know it is a little thing, but it makes me feel like I cant see ahead of me.

Its classes are awful the entire all dps , Plus a bit off other roles concept is awful for any multiplayer game.

The problem I have with GW2, I don't think can be fixed. It's too dumbed down, and way too casual friendly for me.

I'd get rid of the limited instanced so called WvsWvsW too, it's a joke.

There is no social aspect to the game. I cant say what it needs exactly.

But the game is no different than a solo game. I bought the game mainly for the PvP, but had no idea that the PvE would be soooooo boring.

Nobody says a word, yet there are people running around. Even the global chat is mostly dead.... its weird!!!

I'd like to see housing, and I'd also like to see them stop continuously nerfing every single farm spot in the game.

Bigger more diverse skillset. Needs to be more open to allow players to cater to whatever way they want to play.

I think Guild Wars 2 succeeded with its intention to make a casual friendly MMORPG. If I had to pick one thing to improve in the game it would change the very nature of it. All of my complaints stem from just how casual the game is. I'll give it a shot though. I would make it much more social, where you actually need to interact with other players for... anything.

I find this strange since I find the world alive and chat busy.  Im more social in this game in many that I have played.

I would change many things about GW2, but the main one would be the lack of skill diversity.

WvW.  Redone from the ground up.  Make it live up to the name World vs World. More massive, not just a moderately sized zone.  Improved incentives / rewards.

The one thing I would change or improve

The RNG, make it a lot less. That includes the mystic toilet and the lottery boxes.

EDIT: judging by a lot of the responses on this topic, you can never provide a game for everyone, it just can't happen. So just make your game and stop trying to please everyone.

Care to explain what you mean?

Take steps to more fully realize the original manifesto, rather than stepping away from it in an ongoing slide down the slippery slope of mediocrity.

it needs an evil faction or two. so we can do evil shit and such.
  • observerobserver Member RarePosts: 3,685

GW2 doesn't need one thing changed, but many things changed/improved.

    • Traveling / Mounts
    • Movement / Camera
    • Combat
    • Classes
    • "Questing"
    • Downed State / Death
    • WvW
    • SPvP gametypes
    • Dynamic Events
    • Living World (a true living world that changes the old heart tasks/events/etc.)
    • Itemization/Stats on gear.
    • Roles (different roles for different tasks)
    • Dungeons
    • World Bosses
    • Trading Post

I could list more, but if i really had to choose, i would choose Roles.

I would do a revamp of the way roles are played, and how roles are needed for different aspects of the game, such as dungeons, pvp, and events.

    Combat

If the combat was made to actually be good, considering how much emphasis is on it (not so many things to do compared to other games) I feel it would be a lot better. Making combat far less floaty, more refined, give it some challenge and more thought process instead of just 'dodge' being the only skill factor really needed. Get it to be either tab target or aim based not some weird and very iffy working mixture of both that doesn't tend to work right when you need it to.

I mean I can add more combat related stuff such as more ability choice or customization as well but they might be infringing on other areas, but I feel like its infringing a bit on being more of a '2nd' thing the game needs even if it ties in greatly with combat. If the combat was at least decent in this game I'd think about playing it, but in its current state its very lack luster. Fix the combat itself and it can go a long way to being more interesting and feeling like it has potential from there you can garnish more support to help address the other areas needing improvement.

I don't think I could narrow it down to just one item.  I would love to see them add quite a few things to be specific about it.

    • A new class preferably some sort of Hybrid Melee/Magic user like the Paragon or a DeathKnight type of profession.
    • Redo Weapon Skills to give the player a choice in what skills they wish to equip.
    • add about 2-3 new Open World Dungeons to each zone with multiple Bosses in them that can't be soloed.
    • Implement a Dungeon Finder
    • New Guild PvE content
    • A real Post Level Cap Progression System.
    • Add about 20-30 new Utility skills per class.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
