Sometime next year. The game is not even in beta yet and that is supposed to start anywhere from Oct-Dec time frame. Then depending on who good the game has done bug wise in Alpha state your looking at a good 4-8 months of beta testing.

beta 1 is scheduled to begin at some point between oct-dec. seeing as how we are in oct. and there isnt even a beta app or anything regarding beta on their page yet im going to get it will start at some time between dec. - feb. if it starts in jan (which im guessing it will) expect beta 1 to take 1-3 months, probably the later. beta 2 will then begin, 2-4 months, then beta 3, 1-2 months. im guessing a end of fall beginning of winter release of next year.
flame if you want, but look at the releases of WC3, Diablo 2, and the recently delayed over 7 months Star Craft Ghost - it WILL take this long AT LEAST... Blizzard has the worst track record when it comes to getting games out in any type of timely fashion.
Let me get this right: The dragons breath knocks you over the 300' cliff onto the jagged rocks below and you want a saving throw?
LoL Rathma the game will come out earlier than that ( I hope). Anyhow there are advantages for a longer time period of this game being released, so I really don't mind. Just going to have to be patient with it that's all. But to set any realistic Release Date just seems like a bad idea to do with Blizzard, although the ones who are saying it won't be out for awhile are going to be right. We just got to wait and see.

Can you tell us more about the beta? Will there be different phases? Will there be an open beta? Will it require an NDA? World of Warcraft is currently in the alpha-testing stage (internal testing open to the entire company). The beta test, which is scheduled to start sometime in Q4 2003, will initially be open to players in the U.S., Canada, and Korea. Participation will require an NDA. Similarly to how we've conducted beta tests in the past, we will gradually open up the beta to more and more testers in order to gauge server stability and connectivity. While we don't know what the total number of beta testers will be yet, this will by far be our largest beta test ever.
I'm in Europe. Will I be able to participate in the World of Warcraft Beta? We have not yet finalized our beta plans, but we do know that at some point in the process we will need to test servers worldwide. This will certainly involve Europe, but to what extent and when has not been determined.

to get back to the actual topic. I've seen a gamessite (and a very big one, but I dont actually know if it's against the rules to speak such names here, so I'm not gonna tell u either) who says the release date is june 2004, but how can this be? the official site says their's no such thing as a release date announced yet? and besides, the game looks pretty ready for production to me

Blizzard doesn't give release dates for thier games, and for good reason. Everyone knows that DiabloII was pushed back nearly 2 years from it's original release, but again, for good reason. I'm sure I'll get some argument with this next statement but here it goes... When Blizzard puts out a game it has less bugs than any other companies games (I'm referring to online games here folks.) I put WoW as hitting Beta around Jan. or Feb. I also think it will be in beta (all stages included here) for at least a year. Blizzard knows the mistakes other game makers have made with MMORPG's and I don't think Blizzard will make those same mistakes. I'm sure they will be pushing patches once a month or so, but I don't think they will put out WoW knowing that they are going to have to push a patch every other day for the first 6 months of it's release.
Personally, I wouldn't want the game before it's mostly bug free. These are just my opinions and I know I'm keeping an old post alive but I had to throw my two cents in.
I am just waiting on the game as patiently as I can. I accept that when dealing with Blizzard better prepare for it to take a long time to see the game. I think of Blizzard as one of the best companies out there for making games. The games seem to remain playable even years after release. I imagine WoW is going to surpass even that.
Yes, because EBGames are the ones running the beta and will be deciding when it will be released. Seriously though, that's just a guess by them and honestly from the looks of things it's probably a bit early, it's now december and they have yet to even start taking beta apps. The only way that this game would be released by then is if they have one of the most polished beta builds ever seen from a MMORPG which may be possible. If it's well balanced and contains few bugs then it may just make it through beta pretty quickly.
