The War Z: Now Operating Under a New Name

The War Z is no longer The War Z. According to a post on the official Facebook page, the game's name will officially be changed to Infestation: Survivor Stories when the patch process is completed later today.
New Additions
The name of the game has changed! The games new name is now: Infestation: Survivor Stories The game and all applicable website URL's will be updated with this name as well.
Character names are now affected by the Profanity Filter. New characters will no longer be able to create names with profanity in them. Circumventing this filter can lead to a permanent ban of your account.
Added additional words to the Profanity Filter.
We've Changed the way the server browser selections menu functions. Now when you click "Play Game" you will be presented with channel tabs. On the left side of the channel you can click it to browser servers. On the right hand side you can click it to quick join.
Updated Boulder with a new survivor stronghold, safe settlement section (overrun - non-functional), and expanded military camp. For more info check out the Dev Diary HERE.
Adjusted some vehicles, climbable objects, and walls for a greater gameplay experience in Clearview.
Updated spawn points around Clearview to help combat spawn camping. This is an initial test and if it works out we will do the same for other cities.
We have removed the Hardcore option from the game. Unfortunately this feature was not being used by many players. All current Hardcore characters will remain until death.
Hardcore leaderboards have been removed from the game.

I'm certain it had to do with the fact the movie World War Z is coming out. I know they were suing The War Z for having too similar of a name. Considering The War Z rushed an unfinished product to capitalize on the success of DayZ ... karma's a bitch!

I always felt the name "War Z" really infringed on the book World War Z which the movie is based upon. But of course, the book's author didn't have any real financial clout (aka legal team) to contest, but the movie company has no such problem.
But perhaps it has nothing to do with that, but just the face their rep is kind of poor so they can hope a new title will fool some people into buying it.

Changing the name of the game will not, I repeat will not change what is happening in the game. As a founder (paid 69.99 or 99.99 I can't remember for the early alpha) I have had nothing but a bad experience with this game. I even held off not playing for about 4 months and when I go back to play the experience is still bad. Hackers have been cut down a bit but the general experience with the company on the forums and other players has made this game unplayable for me. Nothing that was promised at launch was delivered, and with no end in sight of the rampant killings with no regard is tiresome. I enjoy PVP but I hate having to pay real money for ammo, get in game and then get killed by people camping the spawn points only to lose what I paid real money for.
Infestation is fitting name for the game as they (hammerpoint) has infested my bank account for money that I will never get back.

They had no choice they got sued, lost the trade mark name they had infringed on and from what I understand they had to change the name before the movie released.

Too late now, already trash the 'Z' brand so much that it rubbed off onto DayZ... and forbid a World War Z game drops. People will still be youtubing War Z videos thinking WTF is this..
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
The name change is and was only because they got sued by the people that are making the world war Z movie nothing more but it is still silly they cant get a break.
Still cant wait for Dayz standalone
