City of Steam: New Patch to Introduce Channeler Class

City of Steam has announced that a new patch will be deployed next week that will see significant additions to the game including a higher level cap, improved/expanded quests, and the introduction of the new Channeler class.

In addition, the team has also posted a developer diary to lay out some forthcoming changes to the events system. Speaking about the Arena Survival Event:

The basic premise of the Arena event is wave-based survival. You get a few breaks in between the ever-ramping difficult levels, but nothing stops those enemies from piling onto you. Well, until you reach the boss of course; he will present a whole different type of challenge.  There’s currently an arena in the Refuge, Heartland Road and Meluan’s gate, and plenty more to come.

The Channeler class isn't new it was in closed beta they took the class out at open beta to work on it, I guess they didn't want to work on it all the time the game was down between closed and open beta to get it in at the beginning of open beta!

Not bashing in the least as I know nothing about the game but am always up for trying mmo , but what happened to the overall opinion of the game ?
I remember it being hyped and pushed fairly heavily then suddenly off the radar and meh responses at best about it.

I played this for an hour or so and its a great browser game but that is basically it.

Its not amazing or groundbreaking to say the least. Honestly? I may let my kids play it and block general chat. That's about it.

MMORPG Gamers/Developers need a reality check!

They took their original game concept and dramatically changed it to a dungeon gear grinder.  They added an "energy" system, removed player to player trades and mailing items along with a few other horrible ideas from their publisher R2.  Going with R2 is probably the worst mistake they made.  Pissing off the players that originally funded them being the second.

There are some great ideas lurking around the game.  It has the potential to fill a niche.  For a Unity engine game they made it look really good.

I think their problems could be lack of experience and/or confidence in their original design direction.  This is probably the most disappointing game I've experienced in quite a while.

    +1
