Why does my Marksmen pvp build always die against lower levels

SilvercrankSilvercrank Member Posts: 29

Ive made a marksmen/assassin/nightblade pvp build, he is currently level 16, and i keep losing against tankers and other characters who are lower level than me,and i lose badly.

I thought there supposed to be good for pvp, like hunters are in world of warcraft.

Is it the way i play? or my gear? i do way less damage than they do and i get damaged so easily against them and there a lower level.

It's hard to judge PvP at anywhere other than Max level. There are certain cleric builds while levelling that make them almost immortal in most PvP situations under level 50, but they totally lose their juice after that.

I wouldn't pay much attention to it. There are plenty marksmen at level 60 that kick some ass in PvP. Dealing with the wildly unbalanced 'levelling' PvP until then is just a stepping stone.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Very true.  Certain souls hit their stride at different brackets.  But MM is strong pvp soul.  You have to play them correctly though.  Meaning either kiting, or having your own pocket healer while you dish out your biggest damage.  MM , like mages, can tank to be honest if they good, but need utitlize the right abilities for that playstyle . . . also, if you have bad gear, you going to be beat by anyone with good gear and a decent sense of pvp . . . also, if you 1 v 1 and complaining, that doesnt count :) 1 v 1 is different from helping your team win.  Stick with the MM, but maybe examine your play style to each situation and the build you chose.  It might not be compatible . . . but you might simply just have shitty gear. :) gl

Are you trying to fight them toe to toe? Can't imagine why they would even be hitting you. You should be as far away as your range allows you to be.

At level 16 your souls are not fleshed out enough to matter.

I play a rogue, played one alot in PvP before storm legion released. IMO you should be MM,Ranger and ( whatever ).

MM is a good PvP soul but you have to learn it. I stopped playing Rift a long time ago but when I did play, I played MM, Assassin or Ranger as a primary build.

MM's playstyle takes prep work, it isn't a run and gun soul. If you want to run and gun you need to play a ranger where your pet is still caking on damage while you kite.

MM's need to be standing on their perch (the ground light you set down to amplify your damage) to do max damage.  Which is why they really do well with pocket healers. When I played, MM was probably one of the highest if not the highest dps in the game, but it was dangerous, and if you got the attention of other players, you weren't going to walk away. They have the potential to take down any other class besides clerical souls very quickly, but you have to play smart, and keep the gear as high as you can get it.

Also as someone else stated all souls are good in diff brackets. to prove this play a sabotuer. They are gods until mid 30-40.

They can rip apart any pve mob or player like a hot knife through butter, but at end game, that damage levels off and they become average to subpar.

MM is the opposite. They are weaker at the low brackets and as you max out the soul tree, and gear to match, they become devastating.

Stick to your soul, combine it with other souls that maximize its potential (hint, like souls that give +% to dexterity) and learn to play it smart. It is a walking turret, you set up shop, plant yourself in deep, and dispense death. Just do not expect to be a death machine that can stand there and go toe to toe with other classes that excel at what you don't. Close combat.

MM has escape abilities for a reason use them :P

    Good Luck!
