XP nerf Please Let Someone at SOE know Following

I think what he is trying to say is that if you need 50K xp to reach the next level, and you do a quest that gives you 100K, you will only get 25K XP, then if you did another quest that gave you 100K xp you would get 25K more xp. (Half of the 50K each time)

Correct.  And really, this shouldn't even be noticed by most folks.  -TH

Can someone reply to TH that in the noob area this affects players.  A bunch of the missions will be seriously invalidated IE lvl 7 quests in when you are less then that in that area.  I would test this for them or tell them myself but my account expired today!

Hehe.  Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TH explained that this is working as intended and agreed that, if you needed say 95k to get to the end of a level and the mission paid out 100k you'd only get 50k. Tha'd leave you with 45k to go...

He implied that you will then only get 50% of the XP required to reach the next level, so if you repeated that quest or did another 100k, that seems to mean you'd only get 22500. Next time it'd be half that and so on.

I suppose you'd eventually end up getting there but it seems a wee bit queer to be chucking yet another 'choke point' at people.

No, that's not how it works.

The most experience you can achieve by completing a quest is HALF THE LEVEL's total experience. It doesn't keep dividing itself.

So, you accept a quest. You need 200k XP for the entire level. You complete the quest, and it would have paid you 125k XP normally. Instead, you got 100k.

You accept another quest. You complete it. This quest would have paid you 250k XP. You get...100k. DING.

    and so forth

This is no more than a method of controlling powerleveling. It's not an actual XP nerf to anybody playing normally.

I have been playing guild wars.  I will be getting d&d in feburary when it comes out.

Wepps is sort of correct.  However, my point is that some missions in the noob area will get flagged powerlevel quests and will gimp the new players.  That is NOT what this was intended to fix and is the issue.

As for the entire stopping powerleveling, is there an actual point in stopping players from quickly making a toon lvl 90?  If you want to just make a lvl 90 jedi, spy or bounty hunter to pvp with the only way in swg is to powerlevel the character.  I never understood why it was so damaging to allow people to get through the grind without doing every mission in the game to try something new.

Heck even if noobs want to skip a chunk of the grind because they maybe already did those series of missions on an alt I don't see the problem with taking a 100k xp mission to get to lvl 30 so they can do the stuff they haven't yet experienced.

I was not aware of the benefits or repeating the same activities again just for the soul purpose of "slowing down player progression"  It makes more sense to make what is being powerleveled around more "fun" and have a good "reward" for the player so they WANT to do it.  See the difference? Make them want to run the noob missions because it serves a purpose.  Then again SOE never understood anything besides grinding as a purpose. so...  Enjoy the endless grind.  Next expansion maybe you can purchase that elite loot drop rifle from John Smedley for a mere 14.95 +tax as opposed to paying ingame credits.

No big whoop about the n00by area quests really. You can grind out any of the levels there in about 20 minutes anyway. Hope you're enjoying Guild Wars haxx, at least it's free.

DDO just says 1st Quarter 06, so may not come out unitl April. Just as a side note, don't pin all your hopes on this game.

I know it says first quarter 06 but it was orginally planned for Feburary.

I have absolute faith that it will be a very good game.  I trust turbine to make a great title.  I trust soe to make me imageimageimageimageimage

As I said "TH explained... He implied..." etc. From long experience of TH's inability to explain stuff without managing to send most people heading off in the wrong direction I hauled my butt onto TC this afternoon.

And yup, it's no XP nerf. I hnestly wouldn't have noticed the difference UNLESS I was like the CL1 who grouped with me in the hopes of levelling fast.

Me, I got the 300k or so I needed for my next level in a couple of hours. Just did the quests, got the reward, lovely jubbly.

I did have a minor panic when I realised I needed about 10k to get the next level and had one quest to 'cash in' that'd pay out over 100k. Figuring that I'd rather KNOW if the system now bit or not, I spoke to the mining manager, levelled up and, as far as I can see, all my XP carried on to the next level (bar the 10k needed to level, natch.

it means youll get half of total level experence not half of half or what ever (meaning if you have 50% of your level filled and you need 50 experience to level and you do a mission for 100 XP you wont get 25 XP youll get 50)

its to keep people from powerleveling.   besides no one should be able to level up in 1 - 2 missions at high levels thats just wrong.

Not to derali the thread and NDA's being what they are, but why do you have faith in Turbine? 1 Failed MMO and one MMO holding on by a very thin thread. Neither winning any awards. Trust me bro, DDO will NOT be your savior.

    DDO sucks
I won't go into details but suffice to say it sucks as an MMO... if all you want is a glorified CORPG a-la GuildWars then it's awesome. But an MMORPG it aint.
