It was the NEW stuff added to the engine causing siege crashes!

The rock solid super stable DF1.0 engine is in there somewhere.  The new systems are/were causing the siege crashes.  Lets hope AV has fixed it for good.  The prowess system and dominion system are amazing great ideas however they were added on top of everything else causing most of the issues we see today.  It's only a matter of time before we are rock solid again (it's been getting massively better each patch, anyone playing would agree with me).

I didn't crash till after the siege. If I had of relogged before the siege I probably wouldn't have crashed at all. I'm happy with the performance so far. My computer was a beast when I bought it 18 months ago, so that might have something to do with it.

There are two issues at work. First, the servers aren't the same ones used for most of DFO's life span and are probably  slightly cheaper and less reliable. This move happened after hellfreeze I think and then siege performance decreased

The second issue is that the client has never been very good. The new graphics make it harder on the client.

At least AV has been better at improving performance more often than they did in DFO.

At a recent epic siege (200 or more players) I only crashed once.  That was after about two hours of intense non-stop fighting.  I think it had to do with my connection because I also dropped out of my voice comm (disconnect from internet).

I'm loving the game. It has it's issues to be sure, but it certainly makes up for it in the ambiance and fun factor. As an old school mud/mmorpg player, I love the atmosphere and lack of direction. It has a very open and non-linear feel to it and I am really enjoying that.

not sure what you mean by lack of direction wernt the spots where mobs spawned marked on map. For me it was like go to mob icon on map kill 1000 of these mobs and repeat with next mob icon on map .

Speaking of 1.0, so when is AV bringing it back and cancelling this POS they call UW?

Combat was so much better in the first DF, now its just limited crap.
