Left this game after the first or second week, after spending 60$
Complete lack of advancement (very minor weapon changes), next to no group content, repetitive missions and 1 (one) active skill.
You just grind achievements to allocate passives, which can be done in a few days.
Lastly, all arkfalls were basically using all your ammo, mindlessly attacking (zerg rushing) a static object.
Is it different now, and how?
Thanks

its still an open world third person shooter, same as it was before you bought it hoping for some in depth mmorpg with complex progression.
I mean you already bought it so just log in and see I guess.
If I were you, moving forward, I would check out the main website of games before buying them. I know for a fact that trion stated exactly what the game was and how it was going to be implemented long before they asked for your money. Not sure why so many people thought they were going to get some form of WOW or some sandbox with deep mmorpg systems when it clearly stated its goal on being a third person shooter.
log in & check are there some positive changes for you !
Defiance is shooter mmo ,if you looking for complex rpg gameplay in this game just go away. I am sorry!
Plenty of new content added and more Ark Fall type events. This game is a mindless, fun multi-player shooter in an open world. It was never advertised as anything else and it delivers just that.
Have you gotten a weapon set from one of the factions and fully upgraded it to activate all passive effects? If not then you should not even talk about weapon progression.
..Next to no group content, can you please expleain that ?
I play and have been playing in seven rather large group quests/dungeons, and when you reach San Francisco the game is rather hard in that area. Seven Dungeons that seems about as many as most newly released games are getting..
It's a fun game but rather mindless, yes..No need to change that..
Yes there are new things..Zombie outbreak and a siege type of Pve gameplay
And there is a DLC upcomming soon I guess..
i have only been playing about 5 days or so. Ego level 240 ( i play alot and dont see how you can max your passives that quick).
I've noticed that as you level the weapon progression changes alot. Along with outfits, loadouts, passive perks. I enjoy the progression a lot. The game is more skill based, so weapons aren't as do or die although there are some very nice modifiers when you get to 1500 or so ego so i've read.
I first started this solo and realized , it's so much better to group. I rarely do many solo missions. THe co-ops are great and fun and even the main missions are more enjoyable grouped up. As a matter of fact, i do nothing but group in this game come to think of it.
It has it's flaws like anything else but every aspect of it is fun for me. There are no typical skills or anything, just your main ego ability and your guns. I like to aim and shoot and i love that it's a more "real" setting in a post apocolyptic world. The story is really good so far and i just started getting into the shows.
My first arkfall i thought the same thing. If you stand still shooting the crystal , you aren't doing it right. There are a ton of objectives in each arkfall. The only issue i have with them on ps3 is that it can get really laggy and there are some major sound bugs, rendering bugs when there are more than 50 or so people which is almost always at peak hours.
I've run across some random bosses in the world that took me like 25 min to solo. It's been great fun for me so far, well worth the 50$ i paid.
Sadly this.
Still no progression.
Defiance is a shooter, not an RPG. Shooters are skill based, RPGs are gear checks.
If you want WoW then just go play it and stop belly-aching about how a third person shooter doesn't let you destroy the entire starting area with a thermonuclear warhead and erase the accounts of every single FNG caught in the blast.
QFT
If you're looking for an MMO look elsewhere. If you're looking for a fun online shooter, then this game is one of the best.
that dose not excuse it ffor still having the same basic bugs currently that it had aat launch nore that there DLC has been pushed back and several are starting to wonder if there will even be any DLC at this point, or that the weapons are highly unbalanced, or that the sounds glitchs are rampant, or that a lot of the mission cant be completed due to things not spawning or not responding to player interaction. heck I STILLL cant reload a bloody auto shotgun half the time, and that was supposed to bbe fixed awhile back.
oh and as far as skill base gose in this game your ability to do well depends more on your load out and chosen powers and perks more then your skill in it, Defience is requires less skill to play then several popular MMORPGS.
P.S. alos lets not forget how annoyingly small the map is although I could have forgiven that bit ifthere had acctully been more to do on it, I was expecting a evoleing story not, accolade go fetch mission every week, which is now every other week.
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
Are the DLC's going to be free or will you have to pay for them?
Like previous games the DLC was free(GW2 new content updates) with any type of major expansions (yet again gw1 with their expansions) having to be paid for?
I would get this game but I want to know future content like DLC's will be free and major expansion packs you can buy?
Ah bugger and here I was expecting to get a good ole nuke launcher like Fallout!!
There have been some improvements and content additions, mostly minor ones. If you had fundamental issues with game design or game mechanics, they're likely still valid.
DLCs will not be free. You can buy them via a season pass or one at a time. After several delays there is still no official release set for even the first one though, so if and when they'll actually hit the live servers is up to anyone's guess at the moment.
Actually, it was also very heavily advertised as a tight Transmedia link between the game and the show, of which it has failed misreably.
So, in fact, it was advertised as more than just a Shooter, or even a Shooter inspired by a show. The two were to be connected, but Trion Worlds can't get their P.R. straight since April, never mind the game itself.
The link between tv show and game exist, and it's what REALISTICALLY can be. Remember that the show is filmed WEEKS/MONTHS BEFORE it goes on tv, so it's impossible to predict what will happens IN REAL TIME in the game. However there are crossover with characters from TV show and game, there is the story about the contagion and its treatment found by the game players, there were the new missions and achievements after every episode and so on. What you thought, a TV show can't be filmed in real time, your was only a dream.
And the game is a MMO shooter, it's a shooter in a persistent, multiplayer, massive world, with massive random events (emergencies, arkfall), quests, pvp and so on... So, yes, it's more than "just a shooter"
