360 to restock shelves on a weekly basis?

SerienSerien Member CommonPosts: 8,460

well now Microsoft is CLAIMING that they're going to have more 360's in stores on a weekly basis...while before the launch they told us that we wouldn't get them until January.

I'm just hoping they're telling the truth this time--

American Technology Research analyst P.J. McNealy estimates 300,000 to 400,000 Xbox 360s have been sold in the U.S in the last week.
image McNealy believes Microsoft could have sold up to three times that amount, putting the company halfway to its three month target of 3 million units worldwide. "I think they would have been happy to have sold another million if they could have. They just didn't have them," he said.

Microsoft has told the retail channel top expect more supplies on a weekly basis, although further details have not been released. A company spokesperson has said that new supplies would arrive "for the weekend".

It seems even the biggest retailers are in the dark. Speaking to USA Today, Circuit City's Jim Babb said, "We knew demand would outstrip supply for some time. I have been told we'll get additional supplies, so I can only advise customers keep checking back with stores and on the website."

Microsoft is gearing up for its European launch this weekend, but many believe the shortages could be even worse over there. Retail supplies are said to be tiny, and many customers who have pre-ordered have been told that they may not receive their machines this side of the New Year.

Meanwhile, Microsoft says the number of faulty Xboxs is below the average for new consumer electronics products, of 3%.

Did you get one at release murt? I was happy to hear that they will rerelease it every week, but I think I am just gonna wait until they have them in stock were I don't have to worry about them getting sold out so quick.

I tried, I really did. I got there at 7p.m. the night before and there were already 9 or so people ahead of me. Figuring that stores were only getting like 4 or 5, I just said screw it--

sucks, hoping I can get one this weekend though if this article is true.

Stores usually stock on Tuesday, so if you can't find one on the weekend try again on Tuesday morning.

No way microsoft would allow the xbox 360 to not be on shelves for the holiday season.

I talked to my manager at work (Best Buy) and he told me that we are getting 40 of each of the two different Xbox 360's sometime in December. I personally would be checking stores or your local Best Buy big time right before Christmas because you never know, you may just get lucky. Btw, I tried Game Stop just for the hell of it, they aren't going to have any Xbox 360's available to non-preorder customers until sometime late in January or Febuary.....what a joke.image

Good luck getting yours before christmas. I just talked to the manager of Future Shop here in Vancouver and he said that Microsoft has not given them any information, and this close to christmas that is a very bad sign. Seems there is an issue with the unit overheating and damaging some disks which is the reason for the shortage of machines available.

I am not impressed at all. Some retailers have told me that they won't get the system in any quantity till march. If that is the case, I'm not getting one and will wait for the PS3.
