I like Aion, and I love the total free thing they've got going, but I'm just not feeling the desire to play. When you grind away at something for too long, and you finally complete it, it's tough to start the next.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
Aion's graphics are still pretty top of the line, it has an amazing amount of PvP content, and some of the best character customization anywhere. But between enchanting, socketing, and the heavy use of consumable this game is very unfriendly to people who haven't been playing for years, which is likely why it is in decline.
You like PvP, this game is great, at higher levels, but expect magic/range to dominate many times.
You like casual, don't bother (imho)
You like quests, don't bother after level 20ish, most turn into "kill us 25 critters" and you do that up to 100 times to get credit
Character customization, well I'm sick of seeing "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" cutsie anime chicks, but you can do ANYTHING so I'm more against the people who do it rather than the customization myself
On the other hand NcSoft can suck a lemon for every time they "decide" to shut down a game for "no reason" so I'm no longer bothering with this game (even though I've been playing since beta) thanks to games like Tabula Rasa and CoX.
Play what you Like. I like SWOTR, Have a referral to get you going! --> http://www.swtor.com/r/nBndbs <-- Several Unlocks and a few days game time to make the F2P considerably easier

Agree about the graphics. How many games actually have BETTER graphics?
The F2P model is decent. It gives a lot to those who can't afford to spend a dime on a game for whatever reason. Although for good reason you can't get end game gear for free, I do like this game's F2P model. It sets apart distinctly what you can get and what you can't get and it tells you upfront. It's like a lot of other F2P games in which you are basically on an extended trial since you can't really do any type of end game w/out spending some cash.
I approve of Aion.
I will never support freeloaders, no more subsidized gaming. My Blog
How does playing an entire game for free make the industry better. How about not expecting free stuff in your life and instead paying for someone else's hard work.

Tera, GW2 and...?
Graphics are washed out, game makes excessive use of ambient light and pastels. I have never liked the graphics in this game, they are no better than the average F2P. Its not the Cryengines fault its the designers. The game world simply has not depth.
It's been nearly a year and a half since the game went Free to Play. Most people already know about it and there's not much to talk about anymore. There was a ton of buzz about it last year though.
If it is so great, then where is all the awesome content that this wonderful free to play model has brought to the game.
A game running on life support is not impressive no matter how "free" it is.
There's something like six new instances the whole housing land/system and in August we are getting two new classes, whole new area, new instances and quests some of them pvp quests, new fortresses, New face templates and options.
Life support means "nothing new is added to the game".
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I don't play or talk about Aion as it is linear quest hubbing at its worst. The ftp matrix is very nice...but I can't tolerate linear quest hubs anymore. TSW and GW2 took steps away from this mind numbing design, thankfully.

Tbh it's WAY better than most of the new f2p games. I'm playing on highest possible graphics and it looks A LOT better than pretty much all new f2p-games.

the nc models (l2 and aion) are really good f2p modles; among the best with turbine and Tera.
the games are pretty good too... l2 is old but it's got a lot of neat features unfound in other games. and aion has a lot of little bits in it that other games in its class lack, such as the flight mechanism and housing.

They don't understand , I don't care if the game is $50 a month to play , if its good I will pay.
Clearly Aion isn't even good enough for me to play for free
Heard that all the time that if game is 'good' i will pay 50 bucks for it but since 'good' is so subjective and hard to get even few people agree on what is 'good' MMO ...it is nothing more than just a figment of your imagination. This 'good' MMO will never exist because players are fickle minded and themselves do not know what they want.
By the way topic wasn't about why you don't want to play but about the amazing "F2P' model which is the best so far compared to any other F2P game out there.

Originally posted by arctarus I believed that op is talking a out the f2p model, and not the game itself. To answer the question, maybe because they didn't announce like swtor did, how much more income they earn when they turn f2p. Ppl will look at your earnings and judge whether your f2p is successful or not I guess. Personally, I like aion f2p model, its the best, rather than charging you for hotbars or open up quests.
"I believed that op is talking a out the f2p model"
that's how I took it as well. Somehow, this painfully obvious fact went right over faxnadu's head.
Its really a decent PVE game, for a Korean game at least.
The PVP is just aweful, and the abyss is just a horrible and boring design. Rifts ensure high level player can go gank lowbies too.
I know the original plan was to do the whole east meets west game design...but its like they have an opinion on what western games are about based on sterotypes and rumors...which is why the game failed horribly in the west...though its huge in asia,
Yeah its the boring and tired pve game design that tuns a lot off, but its done really well if you are into that type of pve.
In the end the NA Aion had a good cash shop...however almost every cash shop starts off modest and non-OP but never ends that way. Even with the influx of BR to the NA servers after going free the game is still fledgling.
I just remember when the game launched, how awesome the first few maps were and the excitement about flying and the abyss were fresh. Then I got to endless Asian farmer land and was meh....then I found out how limited and lame flying was....then I got to the abyss and saw how depressing and boring it was with the added limitations to flight it was more of a pain.
In the end I quit because of how horrible large scale events in the abyss preformed and played when not preforming poorly. Didn't feel like going back and quest hubbing in farm lands (god im so sick of pve in farmland) and wasn't interested in the two massive blobs of factions in standoff mode in the abyss.
They cant even give the game away for free...that speaks volumes.
Just be thankful its a huge hit in Asia and development will continue because of that.
