Played FFXI,RIFT,FFXIV, TERA, all in P2P mode RIFT & TERA in F2P mode. I like the P2P mode better F2P = haha "Dangle the shiny" You know you want it BUY IT! = oh look I didn't pay a 12.99 subscription and getting my gear to +12 only cost me 100 real dollars. ummm ?????!!!! LOL. no thanks give me my P2P with content and a sense of accomplishment.
having played the beta I came away feeling mostly underwhelmed firstly has to be said the graphics are great but that aside there is nothing new in this game apart from the armory box you carry around I played the archer class and will say I only played to lvl 12 so these are early impressions but I cant really see why people are getting carried away with this game the quests which are what makes an mmo tick for me are very run of the mill instead of killing 10 rats kill 10 squirrels instead and maybe you can turn it off but when you go into a zone with really nice graphics it really distracts when you see a LOT of squirrels with LEVEL 2 SQUIRREL above them running around as I have said I only got to lvl 12 but the 1st dungeon I was guided to turned out just to be a ramp with some mobs leading into a room where you kill another mob .The zones whilst pretty and a fair size had those annoying borders where you cant climb or go through etc from what ive written you prob thinking im a hater of the game im not and would say if anyone was playing an mmo for the 1st time I would highly recommend this one ,but if you have played wow, rift eq etc im not sure if there will be enough that is different to hold your interest I will get this game when it comes out and hopefully the higher lvls will make me change my mind but can see this as another game like swtor and gw2 that ill be playing for 3 months or so still holding out my hopes for the elder scrolls and eqnext

have to say the game doesn't really pickup till level 15 so if you still want to give it a shot you should clench your teeth and play past that a bit
I don't understand the F2P craze. Honestly my experience shows several things wrong with the model.
The biggest thing I notice is Server stability, most F2P games have issues keeping their servers running smooth and lag free. They are either riddled with lag or always going offline.
The second biggest thing that bugs me is the community, most F2P games could really care less about maintaining a "civil" game. Most likely because they have little to no "support"
Now I am all for free trials, before you even buy the game. But instead of asking why it should go F2P lets ask ourselves why a game shouldn't.
Unlike single player games, MMO require servers, servers require maintenance, maintenance requires people actually perform said maintenance, thus you need to hire people to do said maintenance and you have to pay them.
MMOs also require a almost constant flow of new things to do, people want their MMOs to be growing living worlds. Sure games like GW2 have done a decent job, but no were near as well as a game who has a constant flow of profit.
Also 10-15 bucks a month is little compared to other things we buy, Even if your only play a few hours a day your getting your money's worth. Try going to a movie every day and see how much that cost.
Anyway - they said the game going to be P2P so deal with it people or move on.
It's a standard themepark mmorpg with pretty graphics, it does nothing new. I am tired of these types of mmorpg's so in my opinion it's not worth a sub.

Aye... Same here! I'd rather pay a monthly sub for a great game than to share my experience with a bunch of freeloading scrubs in a sub-par game.
