i my friends am basically at least one of the 3 most active posters in off topic and i will tell you why i really dont like the pub that much.
1. Is this game better then this game threads.
my response i usually check the F*#king Ratings and read the reviews of that game in that games section of the site. and i really hate these threads i remember there used to be 1 a day but i dont check anymore
2. __ reasons this game is great.
i hate fanboys and fanboys always always are the posters of these threads.
3.__ reasons this game sucks
yet again this thread type sucks majorly because it states the obvious that we all already know and a bunch of idiots agree and they grow way way too fast.
4.Which game should i play
yet again i say check the F*#king ratings and read the reviews in those games respective parts of the site.

I just read most the posts and avoid the crap threads. Which, I do on occasion like all the other hundreds of people that view threads.

Actually, some of the "looking for a game threads" are nice.
Remember, a game with an 8.1 rating might not be what your looking for.
If your looking for specifics (IE you want less PVP, more realism and still a fantasy setting.. just an example...) you would be better off asking around the forums then buying WOW because its the fantasy game with an 8.1 rating.
But yeah I agree there is ALOT of crap. Too much game flaming. This is expected on an MMORPG forum since there is alot of competition between MMOs but you got to weave through the crap.
I prefer these boards because I've already found a decent MMO and people are pretty amiable on them.
ya but thats what the user written reviews are for, i mean for wow we must have close to at lesat 3000 of them and if you only go back even a week or so the odds are you will find all the info you want.
so i dont think they need to post in the forums to get the info they would get there.
i mean with thousands of reviews on any given game, and at least half the people typed their thoughts i would think thats enough to assemble thoughts on a game to decide whether to purchase or not....

I see that I have been lured once again into the elitist, aka off-topic, section of a BBS. Where the obvious is over-exaggerated and argued, the obscure is treated as canon, and "ye with the biggest post count deserves more respect."
Vergeltung is correct in his statement though, there is a ton of information available for anyone seeking it without posting in the pub. Good luck argueing anything otherwise though, for any of you who wander in from the pub to discuss will be met with disdain. Plus, grimweeper has already established himself as the official antagonist in this thread. It could be me, but in this case I am merely a Troll.
Y'know, I'd agree with all of that, except for one thing.
If we went by reviews and ratings, we'd all be playing EVE or a mass commercial buy-me MMO. Some of us have seen shades of something different, and we're relentlessly seeking it out. Anything that has potential to be something just different enough and great, and we're as desperate as crack addicts to find it.
Outside of that, yeah. There's already plenty of info on how EVE has a cult following, WoW is good enough for some and they don't see why it's not good enough for all, Flyff is horribly mismanaged, and Runescape is the worst thing ever created since Hitler. That's about the gist of it.
Eh. Screw it. You're trying to do yourself some good. Much as I hate smoking, I oughtn't step in the way of someone trying to quit. Rant on brother. Rant on.

I don't mind the 'what mmorpg should I play' threads as long as they have a point. If someone provides a list of what they're looking for, that's fine. A big part of this site is showing people all the MMORPGs out there. Likewise, posts asking for comparisions between two games are also fine, so long as the person gives a general idea of what they're looking for. A post asking the general forum to make up their mind for them is pointless.
The Aladdin post was the most fun I've seen on a forum in awhile. I also enjoy the Mourning thread because it pops up every few weeks and reminds us all that not all MMORPGs are worth our money.
Normally, I do not visit "off-topic" BBS anymore, somehow I got in here today. Like I said in my original post, I was trolling. But you see, I have been part of many a BBS "off-topic" board, and the dynamics have not changed in these many years. This one is the same as any other, the avatars change, the topics remain similar but update with the news / times, and amazingly the arguements almost inevitably end up exactly the same. Since I have never posted in the OT boards here, I will clue you in on the bleeding sarcasm I was using in my statement, "ye with the biggest post count deserves more respect," being directed at the OP's statement about his/her post count.
I will tell you this: If you are looking for real respect on a BBS, you will not ever truely find it. That was not sarcasm, that was the heartfelt truth. Respect is something you earn through action and not words, and BBS' like this contain almost no action and generally empty words.
An irony of "off-topic" forums is that nobody is ever completely right, maybe that is why I had to respond to your "correct me if I'm wrong" statement. But we all know the outcome of my post here; I will be deemed wrong, or a troll, and fade into obscurity.

Isn't those topics and not quality? I mean if you don't like the topic, you wouldn't care much about how the quality of the post is right? For example (from the top of my head), If you don't like what you see in Brand 1 of cereal, you wouldn't care much about the quality of the cereal right (somthing like that)? I think you can see where I'm getting at.
I mean it is an Off-Topic Discussion and we talk about personal things, but I've seen worse. Ever herd fo the topic "There"? Anyone remember some guy made a topic about "There"?
