I miss Tarren mill

I am one of the few fortunate ones that played in a PvP server when there was no BGs.  Tarren Mill was a gank fest.  Low level player would even hire a level 60 to guard them.  So much drama, so much QQ.  Heart used to pump so hard, I had to keep a bottle of water next to me.

Don't get me wrong. I love arena and BGs.  But nothing can replace a true open world pvp.  Specially when you are killing the last quest mob and some comes and knife you from behind.  There goes your next 10 min walking back to your corpse and you are being corpse camped!

I wish Blizzard would bring back open world pvp in their next MMO.  There are not too many pvp MMO anymore.  I been playing Dark Fall Unholy Wars and it is very good in terms of PvP but PvE content is lacking.

For me PvP + PvE in one persistent world.  Here is a open world pvp video someone did for a content.  How many he can gank.

Now Playing: DARKFALL Unholy Wars "Return to Open World, Full Loot PvP, Conquest in a Sandbox MMO with player driven economy! Just like classic MMOs!"

I was on a normal server in 05' and we had wars at Tarren Mill also but it wasnt as hardcore because you had the choice of joining in.Someone just hits a npc guard and shortly after everyones flagged for pvp, hundreds of players.I wouldnt stay long though because my pc would lag too much.

im glad you enjoyed it I on the other hand would be extreamly pissed if I had spent close to a hour clearing and working my way through a area and was ganked right as I was about to defeat the finale boss and that said person killed the final boss after I had weakend it, basicly stealing all my hard work.

sorry but you can keep it I hated that stuff.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

For me it was a love hate relationship that I find myself missing. I was originally horde on a pvp server called lightning blade. My real life friends all played alliance on a pve server called whisper wind so me and my wife went over there for a while and I found that there was a certain thrill removed when the only real danger was mob AI. Even while playing the game I had to admit there was that extra awareness of surroundings you did not need to worry about when the world is pve only.

Don't get me wrong, I am not for all the ganking that came with open pvp servers and the time wasted when someone has nothing better to do than kill you with a much higher character then camp your body. But man the thrill when you and the other faction are questing in the same area and the spot one another and have that thought process of "so are we gonna play nice today or should we go ahead and get the fun started?'.   I loved the hightened tension.  And yes, TM was infamous for it as well as the booty bay area.

RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.

Then why play on a PVP server in the 1st place?

O yes it was the best pvp ever.  Damn, it was so good and epic. I think that only Blizzard can create something like that in next mmo

Yes it was great but don't expect anything like that to come again anytime soon.Today's men (?) are way too soft.Touch anything they think belongs to them and they'll start crying instead of taking up arms.

The attacks on Tarren Mill, the inevitable counter-attacks on South Shore, Crossroads invasions, danger lurking around every corner in Strangelthorn Vale. The early days of WoW were some of the most fun I've ever had in my life.

And we didn't PvP because to get honor points, better equipment, or because some cheesy PvP zone conveniently funneled us into there. We PvPed to PvP.
