Should I play this game?

I started playing the trial last night and I have to say I was having a blast(though I'm pissed that the "free trial" limits you only to the newbie area). I don't really like the idea of 80% of all characters being Jedi but the current system is a lot more fun than SWG was when I played it a year or two ago. I've been thinking about subscribing but I've been reading so much negative feedback about the game that I'm kind of reluctant. The way I understand it is that you take your trial account and add the subscription for 14.99 a month you pretty much get the game+Jump to lightspeed expansion for free (the "Starter Kit" as they put it). Is this true? In paragraph two of the Terms of Use contract it says

"To play the Game, you must: (i) purchase the Software (as defined below in Paragraph 7) for Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided; (ii) have a fully paid Account; (iii) have a valid credit card (or, if we wish to make it available, a paid game card)"

so as you can see I'm sort of confused about this. Anyone know?
P.S. I tried playing like 8 months ago and it seemed like the game was totally empty. Atleast the starting town on tatooine was. Is it still like this?

I wouldn't subscribe at the moment if I were you the content swg has added only last till lvl 30 then its the same old grind fest, the space expansion is fun for a while but too repititive and the game still has countless bugs.

Also LA seems pretty pissed at SOE so they might pull the plug on it.........or maybe by some act of god do one thing right for the game.

Like with any "should I play this" type posts you're going to get answers of all kinds ranging from "yes!  You'll have the best time ever" to "I'd rather stick pins in my eyes".  At the end of the day, you need to take matters into your own hands and try it your self.  You get the first month free when you sign up and the actual game costs less then $20 to buy so it's not going to be a huge investment to find out.

If you stop having fun, stop playing the game image.  Everyones idea of fun differs, and you might find that this new SWG is just what you've been looking for :)

It is pretty fun starting out with the quests and all, however in the advanced levels, content is what you make of it.. for me as a Vet. I am extremely bored now.  I have canceled my accounts and I'm moving on to Dark and Light.  Star Wars theme itself makes it a very cool MMO.  Bottom line will be is what you want out of a game.  You can make it as fun or boring as you want.

well to be honest , the trial is fun. but the rest of the game currently is nothing like it. Supposedly it will be one day but not anytime soon.

If you really enjoy it ,then of course play it. If not sure do not pay a long term in advance as you will not be refunded if you decide in a few weeks to quit, go month to month until you know you like it.

Personally I'd wait 6 months for them to instal the collision detection that while lacking totally destroys the combat engine used in swg3.0 I just cant bring myself to pay for a game where the staff tells you , you are paying to beta test a new game, has no customer service, and is willing to lie to you to get money out of your wallet.

besides if this does not increase accounts it will change again in 6 months to something else completely different like it did just recently, and like it did 6 months before that. Thats the track record of this company.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

At the moment, the mid-level stuff hasn't been redone yet, however that's not to say it isn't interesting or fun to do.  The only issue with doing it as that there is no XP reward for doing so.  Kashyyyk though is in the process of being converted to have XP quests which should help deal with the mid-level XP issue.  The stuff you're doing on the Space Station continues up until level 30.  I suspect by the time you get to level 30 though, the whole mid-level drama should have a solution.

I will tell you what I told a friend of mine who asked me the other day:

If you are a VERY casual player you might level slow enough that they get content in before you hit the wall at CL30

If you are a moderate gamer then stay away from this for 3-6 months. Do not believe what you see in the 'trial'. It won't allow you to go to the main world without buying the game and the biggest problems with the game aren't apparent till you hit CL30
