IMO, this game needs voice chat.....

At least for groups or guilds. Typing to talk is ..... just not civilized imo.  You got to do so much with your fingers, I just don't see how you could not have it, especially against a boss or tons of mobs at one time.  I am playing the ps3 version btw.

Maybe it's my time from EQ but I got along just fine without voice chat, in fact i'm going to go so far as to say it makes it easier. Why? because you can actually if you don't catch something or have to walk away, you can scroll back up and see what that person said.

The problem with voice chat is two fold, first off it breaks me out the world like crazy to hear a big creature or even a tiny one having a normal human voice. I associate voices with these characters and it's jarring to hear a regular persons voice. Two People don't know how to stay in the lore of the world. It's bad enough seeing typing like that much less hear someone talking about. Not to mention and this one is personal I gotta figure out whose voice goes to whose character when chat clearly states who it is.

The other half is people talking over each other, if the guild leader is trying to talk and someone jumps in for whatever reason you miss what they are saying (in chat this isn't an issue as stated above), then you gotta ask again from the leader what to do.

In EQ also you learned either before hand or as you want how to fight the bosses, therefore the fights were much more coordinated, last thing I want is some guy yelling at me instructions when i'm trying to pay attention to the game, it's distracted, especially if that voice can be jarring to my ears.

Personally voice chat is fine if your just shooting the bull and not really playing seriously, but i'd much prefer to leave voice chat out when it comes to fighting and really trying to play the game, it's a minus in my opinion.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

So how do you get through your day in modern times where everything is typed?  Hell writing is more civilized than talking if anything since it removes barriers like accents.

No games release with voice chat because :

1: It draws too hard on server architecture

2: The prevelance of 3rd party VOIP programs

3: The games that do have it have seen a drop of subs from females due to too many internet stalkers/weirdos

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

Maybe they will implement a voice chat feature since people will need this for raids.

Yoshi P already stated there will never be voice chat, for reasons 2 and 3 I posted earlier.

didnt need it in 1.2x+ of the game or even FFXI because the combat pace was slow enough for you to get in a bit of chatter. Like most games now its a click fest so eveywhere you go it seems like its some anit-social solo-fest because everyones glued to their GCDs and mashing away.

really wish they would go back to how the combat was when 1.0 ended. Faster than FFXI, more busy too, but not so crazy that if you were no mashing like a mad man you would drop DPS or die like crazy

why would a company bother putting voice chat in a MMO I hate the damn things being built into MMOs most people just turn it off.

any decent group is going to already have their own voice caht via one of a doen or so systems.

no I don't want to communicates with pug group via voice chat, theres always one asshole in the group and I don't think being able to hear them would make it better.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
