If you got to add any Social Feature to EQNext, what would it be?
List 2!
--------
1. Playable Instruments: LoTRO did such a good job with their playable instruments. You were able to obtain in-game instruments and play them via pc-keyboard. People would socialize and form tavern bands etc. Watch this video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4QMtvk4ihg
2. Player Gambing in the Taverns & INNs: Players should be able to play games similar to Poker or Chess with other players. When you initialize the game table, both players dump money into the pot... winner takes all.

Player merchants.
Everything made by players.
I like the music idea and mmos need more social events like that.
Dancers that make you relaxed and maybe give you buffs like SWG
A bar where you can sit down and order a few pints to get your alcohol tolerance up (maybe get a bonus )
All these things would cost plat but would make players at the end of the day come together and hopefully chat
No Instanced Dungeons
Encounters where there is no limit to the amount of people that are there.
Mine doesn't really add a feature but adds to the social aspect of a game ( imo of course ) remove global chats. Players who want to talk to large groups of people should go to areas that have large groups of people and talk. Like...a pub.
The always on talk to everyone always seems to attract the worst attention whores who think pissing everyone off and saying the worst things possible are "funny" and it kills the community most normal people are looking for.
Even on forums unmoderated chat always sinks to the lowest common denominator.
Drunken bridge foot races.
Crafted food hour
castle and large vessel town build day
gambling
drunk fist fighting (no weapons) ring.
public bounty system claimed by returning with ear of person as proof of deed.
free buff time every hour at the exit to town. People basically trade lasting buffs with others.
stage area where people with instruments go to get some practice in and share their sounds along with dancers that have learned new dance skills.
a player run tax system with castle and outlying communities and a cast system of government.
in game voice chat w/mute only available with friends, group mates, guild, raids. Guilds and Raids would obviously have a system to control who uses the chat at what time, also sub grouping.
Like both of those. The LoTRO music system is epic and I will add the ability to place bounties on other players, either by in game actions set by the game (maybe spamming trade) or as a "revenge" system for getting killed by said player(s).
Im hoping for Voice activated spells
I think that could work out good with SOEmote.
and also if there comming to PS4 i hope they integrate move into SOEmote so not just the face will be used but the whole body it so i can get som excersise at same time if i want too

Fully customizable chat windows and pop-up /tell windows ala EQ1
Not only is that not a social aspect, but its about the worst thing possible for an MMO, it might work in a single player game, but i know for one thing that you'd be kicked off of any Guilds Teamspeak/Mumble/Vent Server with that kind of a feature, and thats without the 'dancing' bit.. though as a spectator sport, as in someone watching whats going on in your living room, that would be freaking hillarious.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
"Brute force not work? It because you not use enought of it"
-Karg, Ogryn Bone'ead.
no instancing
player created factions
resource territories (a la Shadowbane)
Hehe i didn't ment for it to go out on speakers. i could imagine how that would turn out when everyone in raid keeps hearing Slow, Debuff, and such. Thats what Push to Talk is for
but your right would be freaking hillarious watching me in the living room espesially when i stand in my boxer shorts

As for playable instruments i prefer mabinogi system for that personly write the sone on the music score scroll in MML and equip it with a instrument asnd play. This also allows you to trade your music to other so they can play it aswell.

1. No auction houses to force player interaction with the economy.
2. Restriction on instant travel and easy travel methods, put the movespeed and teleports back on players
Those are the most important things that went by the wayside when Shadow of Luclin ruined all MMORPG's. When we force players to trade with eachother again, and force players to walk around in these worlds that were so painstakingly created for us, we will see social games again.
Until that day, we get a bunch of solo grind fests; occasionally you grind with other people, but you don't have to speak with or even depend on them, you can just kick them and instantly teleport a new player in.
Player/Guild housing in the open world, NO INSTANCES. Or even better, player cities!
Some type of guild owned political system, tax system, law system, etc.. for each town. Castle and town guild sieges to take control of towns from other guilds like every 2 weeks.
Automated pvp events: ctf, tdm, etc.
Heavy party focused pve and (pvp?) design with NO party matching system. Force players into forming relationships and joining clans.
No auction house. Force players into creating their own relationships and smaller economical "alliance" circles.
My theory is, the harder you make the game, the more people will have to rely on each other. So whatever coincides with that I guess.
While some political system might be interesting, I'd going to go a different direction. I want communal actions -- multiple players combining their efforts at the same time to create something in-game. I could see ritualistic magic and crafting (building) as candidates for this, and possibly even some combat activities (shield wall).
For ritual magics, I could envision a monthly ritual that purifies the town's water (small buff to health), or a prosperity spell that increases the number / quality of foraged crafting components. I'd love to see a monthly communal prayer that protects the town from undead -- if the ritual isn't performed, hoards of undead assault town. And not just your garden variety undead -- these should menace all characters! There's loads of possibilities for this.
I could see this working by sacrificing something -- items with specific buffs, permanent statistics, a non-renewable source of energy (mana), or even something as simple as pine cones collected from the nearby forest. Anyone in the community could donate to the effort. The ritual could tie to a game or the real-world calendar for repeating. Storybricks should be able to program NPCs to coordinate events like this, even if just a town crier to announce and recruit for the upcoming ritual. Participating in a ritual could have multiple rewards -- faction, money, experience, etc.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
Working Voice Chat.
That actually works.
Would really like to not have a 3rd party program running in the background. Give me something in game please.
PS - All mammals have nipples.
Get over it already.
