I voted no, and I had no interest in nor excitement for GW2 before it launched, after it launched, or any time since.

    Your just a small exception.

Most people on this forum were major hyping GW2, while at the same time in those same communities you saw people bashing WoW art style just like in this thread. It's silly.

I don't have High hopes for EQN. I just have High Hopes SOE will Not Kill off their Flag Ship MMORPG. Like it or not Everquest From 1999 to Now as been SOE Flag Ship MMORPG not to say it hasn't been beaten by World of Warcraft and the like it's more a fan's favorite and the reason they all go to Fan Fair (SOELIVE) to see what SOE doing to EQ and EQ2 and now EQN to keep EQ  alive  to Stand out in Front of all They're Fan's and Kill even one EQ would be The saddest day for EQ Fan's. So stop betting on EQ and hope to god SOE doesn't mess up big time on EQN.   Believe it Really I think SOE really Worried about how the Fan's are going to Take EQN and Doing everything they can to Keep EVERQUEST ALIVE and WELL into the 3rd Game. but the truth is we don't know until AUG. 2 and No the pic on the website they release yesterday to unlock doesn't do Justice or bold well to EQ  SOE needs to do better.

Hmmm,  after trying WOW for about 1 month, I just could not get over the cartoony look, so I quit and never went back. EQ was my favorite game, for a number of reasons. I would absolutely hate it, but I will give it a try, and see if I could get my head around that look. I do not honestly know if I would last.

Let me start by saying I know this is not a popular opinion. However I would love to see more graphics along the lines of Tera. I loved how Tera's world looked, it would be awesome if EQ had a world that looked like that. However, I know a majority of people are not a fan of this style.

The gameplay and animations are more important to me than the artwork as long as they have alot of customization options for characters (not like WoW where everyone looks alike).

Realistic or not it needs to be stylized....cell shaded, cartoony, gritty, I really don't care but EQ2 looked horrendous and only showed how poorly an engine can be put together just to try and make it technologically advanced, when really all it did was make it slow and clunky at release and less robust over time.

Give me something gritty and dirty that can be polished over time and evolve as technology gets better...

It's going to look like Planetside 2, but probably slightly better.

It's going to have stylish armor, weapons, buildings and other assets, but the game's actual graphics are going to be more on the realistic side (like planetside 2)

I realize, from your post, that you don't understand much about engines.  That's ok.

Them using the PS2 engine doesn't mean that they can't make it look cartoony, gritty, cell shaded or anything.  That is only the engine they are using.  Look at the Unreal Engine...you can find games that look real, cartoony, cell shaded, etc..

I appreciate you thinking you have it all under control....but sadly as you've proven every time you post...you don't.

As long as the gameplay is great I will play it, I couldn't care less about the graphics.

Also, the game engine being used doesn't really matter, as the poster above me stated. Unreal, Source, etc. have all kinds of games that look different on them.

They want to cater to the console crowd for this one. This is the reason we can't have nice things...

I'd prefer something less over-the-top, and the vah shir/kerran looks absolutely horrible (its style looks like it's coming from a Disney movie).

Actually I develop games for a living now and have a BAS in software and game development.  I know perfectly well that you can throw just about any textures (realistic or otherwise) on assets and make them look how you want.

However I base what I say on what I know and what I've seen.  The Forgelight engine offers great visuals, some of the best in the industry.  It also doesn't match the environments we've seen from them.

Sadly the only one here that doesn't seem to know anything is you. All my posts are spot on.

Yup.  Looks good.  I can see where they're going with this game.

no, i wouldnt play it if it looked like those paintings, wildstar, or the asian anime style mmo's

that said, anyone that thinks the graphics will look similar to that art work is hilarious!

it doesnt surprise me people ae already saying they are disapointed by the graphics judging by artwork that was created to reinterpret Keith Parkinson original artwork he did for EQ

He just meant that game engines are altered to look like a lot of different things.

I know, I already said I understand that.  It's a combination of the engine they're using and the screen shots they've shown us.  They have a more realistic look to them.

You can make the Forgelight engine look like an 80s cartoon if you wanted to.  But between how PS2 looks, their past history with EQ, and EQ2, and the screenshots (like the one I showed) suggest that the game is going for more of a planetside 2 look, not a borderlands look.

The only way EQN is going to step up and prove itself is by having bigger shoulderpads than the competition!

Perhaps some evolving shoulderpads.   They start off a few feet high, then through a series of tasks, crafting, and achievements can be made to grow larger.   The final evolved shoulderpads will have your character's shoulderpads be visible in the distance by all other players on the server, regardless of where they are in the game.

Even if you're separated by walls.

Lol.  I like it.  Maybe the biggest shoulder pads win.

If it looked like WoW or WildStar it would be a major hit for me.I'd try it,but not sure I would last long.

EQ was and never should be cartoony.

It wouldn't prevent me from playing a game but I definitely wouldn't like it.

Well technically speaking, they couldnt have made the characters in game look like those paintings because they didnt have the technology back then.

    Today is a different story.

but it isn't going to happen. IMO at worst things will be more colorful with bigger shoulder pads or whatnot.

we are not going to see cartoonish graphics, that would be an even bigger fail than if there was forced pvp in this game.

If the game play is there, I will play it. I don't care about graphics as much.
