Can this game be the Lineage 3 we never get?

rpg-maniacrpg-maniac Member UncommonPosts: 26

Watching the 2 trailers Pearl Abyss release so far I reminisce the good old days playing L2, this feeling came to me when the trailer reach the scenes from castle/fortress siege, yeah the graphics was stunning & the combat system was full action but that's how a modern L3 will look like if NC decide to do it today, don't u think?

All in all I have a very good feeling about this game, it have an open medieval world with open PvP/PK system, clan wars, sieges, mounted combat & many other things to keep u occupied out of PvP like housing & trade between towns, if there is one thing I'm not sure I'm gonna like is that it have factions.

I have my experience with factions from Aion & I don't like of how restrictive it is, u cant speak with your enemies so that means there is no drama/flame & that was one of the best part in L2, drama/flame keep the game fun & exciting for years & that's why L2 is so well loved by hardcore gamers all over the world 10 whole years after it's release, I would prefer if the various races & individual players was free to choose a clan & form alliances & their enemies however they want, for example when a game have factions that means u cant fight a clan from your own race no matter if u hate them to death & that sucks...

Anyway I hope for the PvP/PK & Clan wars to be as free as possible(exactly like it was on L2) & leave "us" the players to choose who we want to fight & not forced by the game mechanics because we belong to opposite races.

It actually does not have factions the game does have two separate countries warring as the games back drop and when designing your character you must choose which of the countries you are from but that is only to give you backstory and decide where your character starts out. They broke it down that we may safely visit the other country and visit our friends who may have started there without any penalties because our characters are viewed more as mercenaries than an actual soldier for our country.

So all in all the two warring countries mean nothing to the average player and the "true" factions will be the guilds. The guild system holds the most power in this game and the most powerful guilds will make the greatest impact on the actual game with their decisions.

but there are no battles between races like World of Warcraft.

The main PvP feature in Black Desert is the castle siege PvP.

The ...siege PvP is not taken place in a dungeon-based field.

It's in the open world, so every player can join the vast PvP."

I hope one day Lineage 3 does come but I can say for sure that we need games like Black Desert and ArcheAge. Those 2 have pretty much become the only mmos I am intrested in now.

Pretty much have given up on western mmos. Dont know if ArcheAge and Black Deserts will be the real things we have been looking for but I like the direction eastern mmos are going. It seems as if they are actually trying to make real mmos.

So is the pvp going to be on all the time or can you flag yourself like you could in swg? I like the look this game has but I just don't enjoy free for all pvp that much any more. I do love sandboxes and the wide open feel they have.

I'd be happy with Wilderness areas, flagged for the rest. Like you though, all out free for all is a non starter for me. I don't have the time or desire to babysit an MMO and I won't dedicate to one if I can't rely on the time I do invest to be secured from irrational idjuts.

That's gr8 news! it seems I miss that part when I was reading info/interviews left & right :P

I'm very glad to know that there is no factions & every1 is free to join any clan they want & the clans can make war with any clan they want, that's how all true PvP games must be, factions sucks! :P

So all in all yeah now I'm even more hyped for this game & I really cant w8 for this to be released here in EU :)

Black Gold looks cool and I am waiting for more info. Check out Bless Online and listen to they guy to see what features the game will have. I heard some of the people who worked on Lineage 2 also worked on Bless Online.

Also keep eyes on games like Albion Online, Embers of Caerus and Trials of Ascension :) western MMOs aren't dead, AAA western MMOs are though, the majority of the MMOs launched with the AAA tag in the last 2 years from within the west have been more MO than MMO.

+1 from an ex L2 player

I was thinking the same thing.  I played L2 from closed BETA up until F2P nothgn else was quite like it.  The only issue I ever had with L2 was the bloody long ass grind, but those days seem to be gone from the whole genre now.  Don't get me wrong I am not looking for a free pass to max level, but I would rather not have to knife the same mobs (tower grind parties in the old days? remember?) over and over again for a week to make 1 level.

Anyway, the future looks pretty good.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

This game from the trailer, combat, sieges, and the housing videos I have seen is what I was hoping L3 would be to be honest, now lets see if they can pull it off, I really cant wait to try this one out at some point.

Im not totally sure about this game yet..  There is so much freedom but theyre still considering stupid things such as gender locked classes

Actually I ask about gender-locked classes in Pearl Abyss facebook & they told me that nothing is final yet & because a lot of ppl ask them the same thing again & again I'm sure they will change their minds at the end, they know how important is this for a lot of ppl for example I want to play female Nuker, in Black Desert this cls is the Gandalf-like char in trailers they don't have a female version of this cls yet, the only female mage they have atm is one sorceress but she don't have the same spell like Wizard she plays mostly with dark spells & she have many close range skills that's not what I want to play.

This game seems to have everything I always wanted from an MMORPG but the fact that is still very far way from release makes me all sad inside :(

I'm still glad that a company decide to take all those elements who make L2 the best MMORPG for hardcore PvPers & keep players playing for years & years w/o ever bored, me for example I was playing L2 for 7 years & even when I stop I never stop thinking about it & I still miss it, but after GoD expansion the game was not the same anymore.

Anyway the final verdict is that.. I cant fcking w8 for this game to come out!!!

You have to realise they are an indie company with 50 staff members.  They would probably be spreading themselves too thin if they wanted to release every class for every race and every gender thereof.

+1 but I need more than that I also don't want crappy looking toons which look like they from the east too or cartoony crap either. The game play and combat are real important too as it has to allow for skills to be used. I don't want crappy housing either if it's just a house in a field with no meaning. I want housing to have a reason and to fall apart in decay if not looked after. So if you stop subscription your house falls into disrepair and others can loot or take it over. They could do it so that mobs can take your home as a base ect.

I want housing which brings the community together not like major restriction, apart from the obvious like building in an unnatural place. If you want to build a house in or near a wood then allow it. Do not place restrictions. Let folks build where they want like on the frontiers, but make it so that if they do build miles from a village or town then it has major implications like your home can be attacked by mobs or players, or whoever.
