I did not play on xbox ever since I was done with halo 2 (two days after I got te game) , so today for hell of it I just turned xbox to play some halo 2 and you know what. That was most fun I have had playing video game last 6 months so much refreshing that I cancled and removed wow and la2 from pc.
There hasn't been a good game since Quake.
If you mean mmorpgs period then...yeah, its more of wow is the best, not that the others are bad.
If you mean gaming in general.
bf2 is alright
cod2 is alright
civ4 is alright
fable is....okay
I havn't really found a game that my whole posse have been jizzing over.
maybe they'll come out with Stars of Starcraft...
well, city of villians is the only mmorpgs released since wow came out, but thats more like an expansion pack than a new game. coh sucks imo anyway.
It's not just you - there have been no good games since WoW.
However, there really haven't been any games since - it's been a dry season.
from the end of this month until march there will be a big fusion of games coming into ob/release... that should help a lot. The sad thing is... 20 minutes ago my friend messaged me saying he wanted to start up a WoW guild with me.. and I stopped playing like 7 months ago... and now im re-subbing... someone save meeeee... oh well, atleast I still have DAoC on the side while I play WoW...
The post is kind of confusing really.Games like anarchy ,DAoC and lineage are pre WoW .Your topic gives the impression we are talking after dec 2004 when WoW was released.
If that is so then yes in the period dec 2004-dec 2005 there not been any good mmorpg (hardly any released even) .
But i think many CoV fans will disagree. However prior to WoW many good mmorpg has been released and a few better then it.
Suprised you did not like DAoC if you made it to 50 that is.DAoC pve is for sure inferior to WoW pve no arguement there.
However when it comes to pvp DAoC is much better then WoW.But then again pvp is not one of wow strongpoints.
Peoeple who are new to the genre can't go back 3 or 4 years and enjoy older MMOs because they aren't, in this case, "arcady" enough. It's just like movies, how many people now a days could actaully sit down and enjoy Citizen Kane or even Dr. Strangelove(NOOO, not Dr. Strangelove!) on their own free will . If they want to enjoy some of the older MMOs such as DAoC, they'll have to sit down and force themselves to play until they can get past expectations and enjoy the game for what it is.
Give an 8 year old an NES and your favorite game, mine being zelda, and watch how they tell you it sucks . Sort of the same principle here.

Hello ppl!
hehe i have now been reading meany treads about games and theres no better game after ? and after ? .but i just now realised becous i have been saying the same that after UO there have not been better one OR the same offcourse there will never be the same but it is just this personal feelign what you get when you first counter some type of game what you REALLY enjoy.offcourse like the person how started this tread was WoW for me Batmud and UO(early version). all games have same element and when you have countered one game you have countered all of tem. offcourse this is pritty stupid to say but if you think it around the tru meaning of the words its tru. but i will not worry i still count on it that there will come a game what will give me as mutch shivers as my first MMORPG what i feeked in to

Well as somebody who didn't like WoW the slightest, mostly because it doesn't give me the freedom in pvp I want nor the graphics I like, i might not be the right person to give you advice.
But I can try - if you add some infos on what exactly you liked about WoW and disliked in other games.

Err sorry, I dissagree with you. I've played all MMO's you listed and then some and I find DAOC to be the best one on the market for my tastes. See that's the thing about MMORPG's... your mileage will vary.
Feature for feature DAOC has more to offer than any other MMORPG out there right now except EVE. And I found EVE to be very boring.
That's my personal opinion though.
Personally I hated WoW. I can see what people like about it but for me it is a TERRIBLE game that lacks any real 'end game' and any depth whatsoever. The graphics are cartoony, which is a huge turnoff for me, the crafting system is a farce and the economy is loot based, which sucks. WoW has no player housing and I don't think it even allows for guild houses. In DAOC we have both and a tax system so that guild's can collect taxes from their members to help defray the costs of guild houses (like 1% of looted coin). Which is very cool. It's pretty painless to the guild members but when you have all guild members contributing it's very lucrative for the guild as a whole and allows the guild to support the crafters and siege equipment costs and keep defense costs... etc.
I prefer a game where players have a bit more impact on the world than WoW will ever allow for. In DAOC it's fun to take control of a keep in enemy territory and hold it for as long as possible. PVP in WoW is just eye candy... it has no meaning whatsoever.

Dark Age of Camelots RvR and PvP is by far inferior to Worlds of Warcraft. Sure WoW might feature less pvp, but there is one indescribable truth on how WoW is superior to DAoC; and that is there isnt one class in WoW that can pwn everything like in DAoC. The class inbalance in DAoC makes the pvp not even worth it.
I'm tired of people saying DAoC has the best pvp system purely because it has RvR; anyways on topic. There is a good thing to WoW being good, other companies have to step up thier mmo's to make them compete, like was said earlier a crop of good mmos are coming up in the coming months.
That's if you consider WOW to be a good game.... For me a game that last 3 months is NOT a good game. Reaching 60 in 2-3 months only to find that you have nothing left to do but the same 3-4 instances all over is NOT a good game.
Good games i played :
AC1 : Played for 3-4 years, always new stuff to do each month
Anarchy Online : Playing for 2 years, lots of stuff to do, many expansions.
I agree with you on the main point, i have yet to find a game that keep me playing more than a few months.
Since WoW? Go back a little further...about 6 years to when EQ1 was king. It's been 6 years and I'm still waiting for a game that grabs my attention half as much as EQ1 did in its hay-day.
Honorable mentions:
Dark Age of Camelot (2 years)
Final Fantasy XI (1 year)
Shadowbane (1 year)
Wow is just a flash in the pan MMO. It only takes like 2 months to rip through it's content. Fun while it lasted. When I want to keep playing a game for more than a year I will be impressed again.
