To be honest, the orcs are the only things that look done so far. I think that ogre needs ALOT of improvement...

Oops... apparently those belong to the old Warhammer Online game that got cancelled...
Thank god. That ogre looks like $#!+
Aye, I didn't really like the way SEGA and Climax portrayed the look of many of the races, Humans especially. I hope that Mythic can do a much better job then they were going to do.

Bad news is: those are pictures from Climax's canceled version of the game.
Good news is: screenshots from the new Mythics verion of Warhammer Online are on there way.
We were recently talking to Mark Jacobs, the WAR lead dev, when he let slip that Mythic has a alpha version of WAR up and running (alpha is an in house test server). He also said that the next (second) warhammer newsletter should be jam packed will all sorts of cool info. This also means that there might be a few screenies in it also!
If you havent signed up for the newsletter yet, I suggest you head over to the official Warhammer Online site and sign up. After that, head over to the Warhammer Alliance and read some of the posts that Mark Jacobs (screen name: mbj) has posted.
Ive signed up for the newsletter. I never expected screenshots in the first newsletter anyways. I WOULD like to see concept are and more Dev reports.
I am most excited about this game. Mythic made Daoc RULE, they will make Warhammer OWN! IF they can get a highly upgraded version of RVR. like an OPEN RVR thing that would portray the Warhammer universe better than the Daoc rvr. That would be nice.
I cant wait to hear more about the progress of this game.
I have no doubt that Mythic's screenshots will look much better than anything Climax was putting out.
Can't wait to see them!
It all depends.
Sega & Climax were making a very good game when they were developing Warhammer Online, and the screenshots they provided showed great artwork on their part.
Granted that it is roughly a year since they gave away the rights to the game, Mythic could create great graphics that are even better then what S&C did, but personally I hope not.
Graphics do play a part in when I buy or rate video games, however when it comes to MMO's, thats something I try not to look for. With the amount of people in one area at a time, and the action that would take place, it would call for some of the latest computer technology to handle.
I don't mind buying new hardware for my computer, as I already do it regularly, but with graphics that are up to par with todays current FPS', its begging to have lag. Look at CounterStrike:Source for example. The graphics arent tremendously good, but it still lags with only 32 people in a small environment. The average player wouldnt be able to upgrade his computer to be able to handle the environments that the more intense players want.
I would be more than satisfied if they created graphics that were par with WoW's, but would focus more on gameplay -- such as located hits and attacking from mounts.
Just my two cents.

No offince ScottElwood.
But the graphics shonw above have tons of problems with it, and quite frankly look like college students did them, and not graphic artists.
The lighting is bland and only comming from a single direction. I can see problems with the normals on the charcters (lighting hitting areas it shouldnt, like the armpit of the orc and the inside cloak on the lich, the light should be blocked by the torso). The deformation (bending) of the undead lich things arm in the second screenshot looks terrible, and even though he is undead I can see no bone structure, which you would asume to be prevelent on something that is dead, since all they would be is skin and bones.
Not to mention the continuity of the shots just seem off, the charcters feel like they are stuck into their enviroments, not a part of it. The ground is empty, no stones, shrubs, trash, worn paths, anything to make the area look lived in, or unkept by creatures that are know for not keeping their suroundings clean.
I presonaly don't think it would be all that hard for Mythic to blow these graphics away (as they arnt very good), and make them run smother on your system. Even if graphics arnt a selling point for you and you care more about the game mechanics (which I do also), if the game looks bad, people won't play it. A lot of gamers who are undecided about giving a game a try will often turn to graphics on the box (or websites) to decide wheather or not to play the game if it looks pleasing to them. Every time you make a gamer say "woah this place is cool" when the walk into a new area the first time, will make that gamer want to explore more, and thus, give them motivation play the game more.
Just my two cents also.

You have to take into effect that these graphics were not finished, and were released before a beta could be started.
Those problems that you stated do exist but I would think that all of them could have been fixed, seeing as though SEGA is a very respected company and wouldn't release anything that didn't meet standards.
The main reason why SEGA gave up on Warhammer Online is because they didn't expect to make a profit that would cover the funds to fix problems alike those.
Here(clicky) is a finished render of one of the animators working on the old Warhammer Online.
