3 new fighters (Typhoon, P-47, Me109G?)

There's more, but what I already listed here would take us half way through next year without stopping to take in oxygen.

No way do they get all 12 new pieces into the game in 6 months. It has taken them how long to get the teir 3 tanks in game and Doc thinks they can do all 12 new items in 6 months. I say maybe 1 year but more likely 2 to get those done. If the RATS do get them done in 6 to 8 months time, I will be very impressed. Shoot just fixing the game and I will be impressed.

EDIT: (Doc) - compeltely false premise. Normally we do avehicle set in 6 to 8 weeks, that was our average before we entered the v1.19 -> v1.20 development cycle. During that cycle, only 1 vehicle set (the tier 3 tanks) was scheduled because the entire team here was tasked with a complete UI rewrite and revision of all code removed and replaced within the game engine to make that happen. That turned out to be a 6 month phase (almost 7) with ZERO equipment outside the tier 3 tanks in the schedule, because we have 1 small team and they were all on the engine/UI rewrite and associated tasks, which while small in appearance to you (just a UI) was enormous on the inside here to us. During this time we redid a whole swathe of things that meant we actually put vehicle/equipment production on hold to achive the greater task set we had before us. Now that this phase is past us, we will go back to more regular production which is why you will see the Churchill Mk.III and 3 new ATGs completed before Christmas. It's nice to think you know enough to make assumptions like it "takes a year to produce 3 tanks" but that is just your assumption based on an incorrect and incomplete idea of what actually took place, and I for one just want those who might think you are right to know the true facts before they are decieved into an equally incorrect assumption as that which is the premise of your dissertation on the subject.

What I like is the fact that nothing is hidden from us. Being an ex-developer (not of games) I appreciate the work that can go in.  To hear what the dev team are working on is very refreshing, and with honesty such as time scales.

The only problem with this is that they build up hopes and then don't deliver.  Sometimes it is can backfire on them.  LMGs in 1.3 they cried.  They never made it until 1.15 I believe.  What they are promising sounds excellent, the landingcraft / NSP (Navy Spawn Points) sound excellent, lets hope they put more coastline in going north up through Denmark and into the Baltic because that would be excellent.

Tidbits from DOC on the future... see last paragraph

For the new guys who wonder how all the other stuff that happens during a campaign is explained, when obviously the Battle of France was not like this at all ... read on.

We start a Battleground Europe campaign in the second week of May, 1940. Equipment lists are set up to best mirror that week in the real war and work within the games limitations, the game isn't ever going to be exactly like real life. After a campaign begins, it becomes your war. It isn't "just" the Battle of France as some suspect ... that's just where it begins. With the passage of time (some Battleground Europe game campaigns can last for 2 months or more) in game ... your factories produce later war equipment that is introduced to your side as time marches on. You are working your way (at an accelerated pace, real life 5 years will pass in 10 weeks or so of WWIIOL campaigning) through your war. So far we have only completed the 1940->1943 timeframe ... the Battleground Europe CD Box says 1940->1942 so we've pulled a year past that already. Eventually you'll be able to fight the entire war time frame in whatever theaters of conflict we have available at that time.

So, it's not the "Battle of France" other than in these two considerations:-

    a) You START in the Battle of France period (2nd week, May 1940) of WWII
    b) As the war progresses through the years to come (represented by equipment production) you stay in Western Europe (France is most of the terrain modeled but there is Germany, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and a bit of England as well) ... you stay in Western Europe to finish the war only because we haven't built any other theaters of conflict yet. We plan to, but we have not been able to get there yet.

We are now planning to finish a new terrain/game engine and it's associated toolsets before we release a new theater of war for the WWIIOL Virtual Battleground series, volume 2. This will allow us to build a more modern terrain/environment for the next volume of the game. It's mooted that this will be the North African theater when the time comes, and this theater would fit neatly onto the bottom of the current theater which includes the northern coast of the Mediterranian Sea. We still have quite a ways to go to get all that however.
