Glad you didn't assume a new and more graphically impressive MMO =  a better MMO.  And Yes if someone is paying the $15 per month for the subscription they will be counted, if they're playing a trial account or let their sub expire they wont be counted, as it's always been.

Of course everyone has their own opinion on what constitutes a good MMO, absolutely!

Indeed that’s exactly how it works in the west although in Asia it works on account credit, you can have $1 on your account but not play for 5 years and still be classed as a subscriber as far as I'm aware.

As I was saying earlier I think it’s a great strategy by Blizzard publishing children’s books.

Agh, this is known information. No that is not how it is.

"World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees’ territories are defined along the same rules."

"Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers."

That is what applies to Asian Markets.

Ah, I always found it interesting how the Asian market differs in its definition of a subscriber from the west and peoples perception of it. I didn’t realise they counted the free month when you buy the game also.

I wonder if they will include free WoW trials with the books, you never know.

What's that got to do with wondering if they will include a free trial with each book?

Given the addictive and exploitive nature of this genre, I'd put a World of Warcraft children's book in my young child's hand the same day I put a Joe the Camel children's book in his hand.
