ArcheAge: Why This Might Take Awhile

A new post from ArcheAge Community Manager "Elrar" has appeared on the ArcheAge Source page. The focus of the post is "when will the wait be over?" A lot of information is revealed about 'Westernization' of the game and when we might potentially hear more about beta plans.

What’s changing?

I realize that no shortage of your eagerness for more info has to deal with what aspects of ArcheAge we are modifying or changing.

Know this: Any “Westernization” that occurs will likely be very minimal and done to improve usability/understanding of mechanics based on conventions we’ve grown accustomed to that differ from those of Korean gamers.

Don’t expect entirely new features exclusive to the NA/EU release or sweeping changes to mechanics – what you can expect are small tweaks to the way some existing features function. ArcheAge is already an amazing game, that’s why we have always been excited publish it.

It’s also very important to keep in mind that this game is constantly changing. There have been so many awesome features since ArcheAge launched in Korea and we want to make sure we have as many of them as possible available at release. Changing around mechanics and the fundamental systems that fuel the game would only increase the amount of time it would take to incorporate new and future updates – not a good thing!

I was hoping they would say "were busy right now removing the horendous board shorts and cars and its been taking more time than we thought.  Rest assured though, they will be gone!"

    No such luck....

    Dear "Elrar",

Despite what you see from american MMORPG games not all of us who play MMOs in america are mindless idiots that require a tutorial for everything, mostly we sigh and groan at the ones that actually do exist and try to trudge through them.

In other words, don't expect it before 2014.

They are taking their time, not necessarily doing it right. Personally, I want to know what will be done to counter gold farmers/spammers and bot armies that usually plague "F2P" and especially Asian imports.

Dont know wjhy people are so hyped over this one...Watched the vids on youtbue and it looks like nothing special (pretty much like the rest of them)....When it finally does arrive it will msot likely be another disappointing Asian title (like Aion and the rest) that just dont mesh with most of us westerners.

From what they have shown it has so much more than Aion or any other dissapointing Asian title as you put it. It isn't a pure themepark like they all seem to be, it took the sandbox side and meshed it well with the themepark. I mean just in the first 5 minutes of watching videos you can see people building a house, and you physically have to build it part by part and it becomes a physical entity in the world as opposed to an instanced house. I would reccomend watching some of the people playing on the Korean beta tests, that's what sold me on wanting the game.

Think summer/fall 2014 is more likely.

MMORPG Gamers/Developers need a reality check!

I've slowly lost enthusiasm for this game over the last few months, specially with all the info coming out of the released version in Korea.

And even though I've never had reason to doubt Trion, their current difficulties can't be a positive thing for this title.

Soooo... It sounds like they are trying over-Westernize ArcheAge. Something I was afraid of =/

If this goes up against EQ Next, I'm gonna feel bad for Trion.

Well at least I discovered this is not worth the effort, could be a good game but next year, lol.. Trion, save yourselves piles of grief, quit now before you crash and burn.. hype a game up then depress most with political crap.. wish you luck but will not help..
