Yeah lol, go from one game devoted to years of freakin nerfing, to another destined for it.

Jack Emmert is a fool. I will avoid all his products like the plague.

    CoV is okay.

Not even close to having the depth that SWG had. Its cute, its fun for a little while. Its not a bad game in any way, I just think people coming from SWG (like myself) would be a bit dissappointed in the lack of depth to the game.

Whatever dude, the CoH franchise is more polished and well thought out than any other MMO company out there...  Just look at the ratings dude...  Also, don't talk like you know Jack Emmert Raph Koster and etc...  It makes you look like an idtiot more than anything else...  People crack these people up to be figureheads and refer to them on a personal basis, which is complete idiocy...  Of course, for someone still paying for a game in beta state, we need to take this with a grain of salt...

I just don't like you coming here and trying to convince people that this is the way to go, when many of us have had dealings with Emmert before and know better.

COH WAS polished at release, in my opinion the finest release in MMO history. Then, he borked it so bad that everything became unbalanced, and constant negative changes tot he game play were his only solution.

    Conclusion?

"He's an idiot. He ruined a good game."

Now, CoV is released. EVERYBODY and their sister are dogpiling the boards talking about how much easier it is to get experience than in CoH, how much more fun the game play is, how the <insert CoV class here> is so much superior to the old CoH classes in power and effectiveness.

If you actually believe that Emmert is going to let this situation go, and leave CoV that unbalanced without nerfing it into the trash bucket like he did to CoH, then you're the fool here not me.

By mid-January, the first nerfs will be rolling out of the Statesman Assembly Plant, and by the 1st of March it will be a total wreck again. I'm sorry, but the man just can't help himself.

While I actually enjoy CoH/CoV, disagree with Jack Emmert begin a fool and agree its a well polished game, I know where Wepps is coming from.

Heroes have had a long list of nerfs, spread out over just about every issue (publish) it's had.  If you've been a regen scrapper or a tank then you have probably seen more nerfs than to any single SWG profession.  To the extent that they have had to respec after the past few issues.  Not that the end result has been game breaking, just very annoying.

The game seems quite well balanced now (inc. for heroes) after i6 (i.e. CoV), but who knows.  We know they are looking into some pvp issues, regarding quick kills from some high damage classes (ATs).

Well, if I walked into all of the MMORPG.com SWG players at a theoretical dinner, and currently on your plates was a heaping pile of dogshit for you to eat, and I come in and say, "Put that piece of poop down, have a cheeseburger", would you object to this?  You can claim that there are impending nerfs, and I am sure that there will be, given this, I HATE NERFS!!!!  However, none of the changes that will be made will decimate the enjoyability of this game, and certainly won't be so bug ridden that you hit a wall at a certain lvl because there isn't any content available...

SWG WAS a very deep and engrossing game, it isn't anymore and I am simply making a suggestion so that many of you can sit down and enjoy some good MMO action over the holidays...  That is it...  No harm intended...  It is not just Jack Emmert behind all of this, this is why referring to him by name and pointing fingers isn't justified...

That's true, but if you enjoy watching shady business practices and game development, here is one of those places to look.

No negative changes will come to this game until Russian Christmas is passed. Then you can expect TONS of them.

It's a bait and switch. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Ah, but time will tell once again. By mid-January people will start mentioning my old post on the subject. By March I'll be recognized as 'right'.

Yes it is, and I'll explain why.

At one point, oh not so long ago, I was in a conversation with him on the boards concerning solo game play.

I mentioned that I chose a certain template so that I could experience that type of game play. I also mentioned that my subscription was due to expire in 48 hours, and in 24 hours was the new patch.

He came RIGHT OUT PUBLICALLY and stated, "It is not my intention to force anybody to group. I want the players to be able to continue to have fun soloing if they so choose."

The patch went in, it nerfed my characters so hard that they could no longer solo.

I regurgitated the post and asked why this was the case, and the post was deleted.

Sorry, they lost my account, because THE MAN came right out and lied to me. Unlike many others these days, i don't take too kindly to being lied to, especially when money is on the line, and he got a personal letter from me stating so.

So as far as I'm concerned, after that incident and further watching the development of CoH, the man is a liar and a fraud. Cryptic is handing people a bait-and-switch RIGHT NOW, and people are falling for it.

    Don't say as I didn't warn you.

    And nothing personal Dis_Ordur :)

Think I remember that post, actually.

Although they have never nerfed any class to the point where they couldn't solo.  Scrappers and tanks had to adjust playstyle somewhat, but never been nerfed to unplayability.  During the test stages, yes.  Not on live though.

Just head on over to the Fallen Earth discussion!  Its sure to be awesome.  They have a big respect for the SWG members and actually LISTEN to them and take their input into consideration.  If you want to help give ideas for possibly the best MMORPG of all time (so far) head over and talk it up about your experiences in other MMORPG's including SWG in particular.

I'm waiting to see how Pirates of the Burning Sea turns out. I played CoH and it was 'OK'. Granted I only got to spend a few hours with CoV, while somewhat fun it too didn't capture my attention.

I'm seriously thinking on going back to WoW.  Not to impressed with the forcing of SWG back into early beta.  My last account expires the end of this month.  Also bit burned out on CoH/CoV at the min.

Points taken, and well articulated too Wepps...  In roleplaying your scenario, I would indeed be jaded too...  Still having a blast with it though, hell, if the 'uberness' of my Brute gets me to 40 real quick like (and at lvl 22, it will) then I can stomach the nerfs...  Time will tell though...
