My alltime favourite class was the vanguard bloodmage.
It can be seen as a party healing Necromancer trough draining. And sadly i dont ever remember a Necromancer in any other MMo to be a good healer. which really saddens me..
Maybe i missed a game or two? Anybody know what i am talking about?

As I recall they still had well of blood and maybe a blood magic skill more as well.
Not my build back then but I did play the secondary healer with my blood specced necro. Not good enough as the main healer but I did keep the main healer alive while I did some pretty good DPS as well.
Guildwars had plenty of weird builds and interesting combinations.
Stealing life from others and giving it to their friends and henchmens is still pretty creepy...
Good point didn't think about that. It's been awhile but I sorta remember Necro's not being really group friendly because at the time the pets pathing was all crazy, so didn't the group siphon skills come later. And I know nothing about doac's bloodmage. I just remember eq's Necro early on. They had great flavor at the time:)
I thought the bloodmage was the best class in vanguard. I like necros for the undead and mystery of it rather than healing. Toss in debuffs and it's solid for me.

I never been much of a pet necro myself, rarely used them in Guildwars and focused on hexing and bloodmagic instead.
I never seen a MMO that makes good pathing for many pets, rangers/hunters often works fine but when you add some more the whole thing usually turns into an annoying zerg that just lags people with old computers and annoy others.
GW had wells, and an ultimate well that restored health and energy. The energy portion was pretty awesome since it was such a rare ability.
Wakfu has zombification in their healing class.

The Necromancer deck on TSW is actually about leeching hp and you can pick the target that will benefit from the hp leeching.
The different leech/healer builds are all tweaked versions of that.
Questionable side effects: You have no minions and the Necromancer looks like a hipster with a pink scarf...
It's a very fun class imo.

Guild Wars had builds which relied heavily on the necromancer for additional healing. Necromancers weren't as popular for healers because their primary skill, Soul Reaping (which gave the Necro energy whenever someone died in the vicinity), wasn't as good as the Monk's, Divine Favor (healed your target whenever you cast spell on ally). More common was using blood magic to give your healing and prot monks energy.
One quirky PvP team build called "IWAY" used a necro in a fairly powerful way. The name comes from the Warrior skill...
"I will avenge you"
Shout. For each dead ally, you gain 10 seconds of +3...6...7 Health regeneration and your attack speed increases by 25%.
The key to this build was, that the team was filled with Warrior/Rangers which brought their pets with them. Those pets essentially had no other function but to die and give this buff to the remaining Warriors. A necro was brought in to use all those corpses created on the battlefield.
It was fairly easy to counter, if you knew how, but it wreaked havoc on newbies and PUGs for a time.

Shadowbane had a class they added with one of the expansions that would syphon life, mana, and/or stamina from opponents and then could give to others. It was an awesome class, but I cannot remember the exact name.
Cheers!
