Yah, if all the 10k keys are really gone for good, these game broke a record and deserves to be in the guinness book.
I prepared 3 mozilla browsers with at least 30 tabs in it so I'll just click and click, right when it went up, in fat only a 1-2 secs, it already said that there are no more slots. If that's dead serious, 10,000 keys used up in 1-7 seconds only.
I click on each tab quickly with a second difference of 1-3 seconds.
After I saw the page that it's all taken, I went back 1 tab and saw that it said "not yet up". woah....
either they are messing or they deserve to be in the guinness book of world records already.
250,000 regiestered users on their forums and 10,000 keys. props to them for finally hitting a date/time tho

One dev said in the channel that they checked two times the accounts to be sure that it was true that they had given 10.000 accounts in 5 seconds, and it's true. He said they may give more accounts in the future, once SoG servers are up.
Even then, 10k within 1-7 seconds all taken compared to 300k in < an hour.
Comparing it:
10,000 used up between 1-7 seconds to WoW's 5,000 per minute.
This may very well be real, if it really is, WOW, this game will eat up WoW, Eve and GW all at the same time if it will be true to its promises.
Im not sure about 5 secs but it definetly was fast. Faster than I thought it would go but definetly plausible.
While at times a bit controversial, this is the latest, hottest new mmorpg on the market. And all people have to do to play this free game is take 10 secs out of their day to try at 1pm EST. Combine that with the xmas holidays most of us are going to enjoy and it makes sense.
I tried at 1pm and fortunately got in but Im just a person with a passing interest. Imo, they really should have tried to give more preference to their more loyal fans. Perhaps give them 5k and leave 5k open, *shrugs*
That's why they decided to release SoG (other than to have an excuse for a quick preorder influx), they've been messing around for a while and are trying to prove that they can put out a good game.
I have little faith in their ability to stay on schedule and to communicate with the rest of the world (they don't even have in-house community reps) because they are such a small team from the middle of nowhere, but the world that they are building (in terms of exploration, economics and war) sounds absaloutely amazing ... so good that I gave them my money.
Well that confims my theory and calculation, all 10,000 keys given out 1-7 seconds, and the devs counted it as 5 seconds.
This one will surely go down in history as the MMORPG that used up all 10,000 keys within 5 seconds, a feat not even WoW, Eve or any other game was able to do.
Guinness Book of World Records goes for DnL: SoG then.
I'll start off by saying the 10k free trials to fans was very generous. So props for that.
The critique I have is them opening the servers on Dec 13th when they gave the distinct impression it would start on Dec 8th. This doesn't affect me at all but a lot of their fans continually posted how they would take time off work and the sort to enjoy the game on Dec 8th. Time off isn't easy and its just kind of unfortunate to not tell their fans.
I swear the [AD] (hired community reps, the devs dont do any talking) said that they thought it was a bug when the accounts all disappeared in 1 min 30 seconds so while they left the official irc channel on +m (silences the channel) they scoured the logs ... 5 mins later they confirmed that it took 1 min 20 seconds for the keys to go, no bug.
That was fast. I managed to get two, one for my wife and one for my Brother in law. But you are correct, they were gone when I wen't back to try it again (to confirm that it went through) The first time on one account it said that it was a duplicate and the second time (on the second account) it said that they were sold out.

The reason you didnt get a key was because of other losers doing what you did. Having 3 windows open and trying to get 3 keys. I got one, isnt that all you need? No offense but Im glad that people who tried to rape 3 keys didnt get in.
The difference between WoW and DnL is the amount of keys they released. WoW gave out 300k+, DnL only gave out 10k. If DnL tried for 300k they probably wouldnt have even filled up at all.

They didnt run out of 10,000 keys in 30 seconds. They are lying about the number. This is understandable since they are an amateur development and publishing company that doesnt have enough money to even release a box set let alone run servers. MMORPGs are a competitive genre. They do not want to be looked at like newbies or failures.
I got my key at 1:03 and my clock is not behind or ahead in any way. Their website is set to show you that there are no more keys after you register.
Also, you are not getting an email because it is done by hand. Yes, it is done by hand. They have no automatic email program. They do it by hand. They did the same for the Pioneer Accounts. This is why it took really long for people to get their email. I wouldnt doubt thats the developers were the ones emailing it out.
They are an amateur devolvement company backed by an amateur publishing company. Seriously, did you have any doubts about this when they started to use a PayPal like website to bill their customers?

Wow, I wish I knew what this whole account key thing was all about. I thought today was just the day for everyone who paid $60 to pre-order to be able to download the game. Then again I wasn't hyped so best someone who was got what could have been my key.
I am just looking forward to snowboarding really.

I literally made sure I was here at 1est when it opened. Refreshed the page and kept re-entering my info and getting the "not open yet" message.
Then Finally I enter it....oh wait "Invalid password" in my haste I misstyped my pass.
So I go back again and go to enter it and get the "We're out of keys" message

Bummed me out, everyone was saying it'd take a few hours , etc for them to go out on the offical forums.
Been a member of the dnl forums since 2003 and signed up for the beta for years and never got in, and now this one chance and woo hoo I miss out on it aswell

If anyone got an extra account or doesn't end up using it and passes it on I'd very very much appericate it.
The download will be going up some time tomorrow via bittorent.
The servers will be going up on the 13th.
Both are a shame, seeing as those who preordered were expecting the servers to go up at 18:00 GMT today and the download to have been released much earlier.
