    TERA

There was these two zones, I don't recall the names but one had an amazing beach with mountains in the background, and the other was like a blue swamp. Loved them both.

    WOW

    Vanilla - Silverpine/Tarren Mill,

BC - Zangarmarsh, The Isle, Tranquillien

    Wrath - Storm Peaks

    Cata - Deepholm

    Pandaland - Jade Forest

    SWTOR

Voss was nice, thats about it.

Aww that Ashenvale music brings me back. I found it so relaxing just hanging out in that zone and wandering around.

Other WoW favorites: Feralas, Tanaris, Eastern Plaguelands, Nagrand, Crystal Song Forest

EQ Favorites: West Karana, Surefall Glade, Rivervale, Firiona Vie, Lake of Ill Omen, Crystal Caverns

DAoC: Silvermine Mountains, Tir na Nog, Salisbury Plains.

I remember them all either because of landmarks, mobs, music or people.  Ahh good times.

    - Crystal Caverns - EQ

    - Kithicor Forest - EQ

    - Stranglethorn Vale - WoW

Could be a dungeon or zone  or town or whatever. I'm just curious to see what answers I'll get.

Well...I'm not a wow fan, I like hadcore mmos.  However, STV in wow was pretty epic as a rogue.

I had forgotten about STV....I remember loving that zone as a Hunter once I found Nesingwary's Safari. Fun stuff.

The area that sticks out the most to me is the Isle of Kel'Danas in WoW. When that area opened up, and we were able to actually run through and gradually unlock the area, something about all those people there, and the PvP that would occasionally break out was awesome. Even after the area was completely unlocked and the daily quests were what you did there, it was still really cool.

Overall, I think WoW had the best zones of any of the MMORPG I've played. I can't go back now because I'm just done with the game, but I still compare every new game's zones to WoW's zones. Not the graphics, just the thought that went into the zones, the expansive feeling that the zones had and the way they all lead into each other. It was done really well.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Good pick. I also enjoyed Karnors Castle for many hours.

SWG -- Myyydril caverns, Once you got the the bottom you could fight a clone of general grievous.  Or The corellian corvette, or at the end I was doing the  meatlump park.

Played:SWG(pre NGE/CU sucked)Yep its true, anyone who quit SWG because of the NGE/CU missed out on a much better combat system. DCUO, Fallen Earth, STO, The Secret World. Battlefield series. Planetside 2. Still playing SWG.

My favorite zone was never impressive. Returning to it today, it's sparse, even by 2001 standards. But it also feels very real.

I'm referring to Humberton, a starting zone in Dark Age of Camelot for those who chose the Highlander race.

Every time you enter the village there is an incredibly catchy/mournful tune played on bagpipes. The village is little more than a couple of shacks, some tents with venders under it, at the base of a valley. Up the valley on one side is an impressive dark age style castle. On all surrounding sides are dark forests and fields of monsters.

It felt very real to me because to get any orientation, I had to talk to a town crier who directed me to go up to the castle. In the castle there were a ton of NPCs holding a scripted conversation/debate about the politics and dooms of the realm. I found the guy I needed, talked to him, typed some words to him, and he sent me off into the forest to kill a wolf. In the woods were the first aggressive mobs of the game, I was terrified. I did finally manage to kill the wolf (though I got chased by poachers and outlaws) and brought it back to the castle for proof. My reward was a wolfskin cloak that gave me +1 constitution, and -1 charisma.

It all felt very natural and immersive, down to every last detail. Going back to that zone and hearing that music reminds me of those terror filled first levels, and how organic MMOs used to feel, before they became more games than virtual worlds.

For me that is an easy choice..

    BLACKBURROW

My first dungeon to stumble into.. Falling down the trap in the hollowed out tree = awesome.. I was initiated to TRAINS in that zone.. It took me days just to work my way down from the main level into the underground section..  The dungeon was a maze and could easily get lost in, and corpse run could be penal..

Anyone who posts their favorite zones, and they are only WoW or post-WoW zones, I feel sorry for you.

I'd have to say.. and it's not really a zone..

Terrathan Keep... Inside and Out.. so dangerous.  Ultima Online

The Old Forest in LOTRO..  first time I've ever truly been lost in a video game.

There was also something that I haven't seen since this..  I don't recall the zone, but some of you may remember.  In DAOC, post Trials of Atlantis, there was an underwater raid boss.  I believe it was an alligator or Croc.  To have a hundred players all swimming through underwater caverns, and trying to take down this 200 foot beast croc was something out of this world.  I've yet to see anything like that in another game.

Moonglow in Ultima Online brings back the most fond memories.

Emain Macha in Dark Age of Camelot is probably the zone where I spent the most amount of time.

While ToA is the expansion that killed DAoC, it was probably some of the best raiding in the history of the MMO genre.

Loved the bagpipes in DAoC. My favorite zones were any RvR zone in mid with all of the snow, Camelot, Tir Na Nog, of course the major killing field of all time, Emain Macha. Snowdonia was quite nice too.

I think we all got lost there. Certainly in the early days when the trees were aggro and there was no map of it at all. Damn I hated that place back then ;)

My personal favorite is still in Lineage II - Lair of Antharas (pre-GoD). I have lots of found PvP and PvE memories there. Also Enchanted Valley and Tower of Insolence (pre-GoD as well) were very well done too.

I'm going to have to go with Storm peaks from WotLK, the quests made that zone really fun.

The entire zone was a trip with all its sercret passageways and doors, fake walls, having to click on seemingly normal objects like a torch on the wall or a book on a table to teleport to other areas in order to even be able to navigate the place made it one hell of an adventure to go through. Then you the different areas themselves like the hedge maze, the chessboard, the upside down area that changed from small to giant size as you went through it and more. The named mobs and bosses in there were pretty fun to. Also having to find the little dollhouse and click on it just to enter Plane of Mischief to begin with was pretty unique.

Best of all was when the dollhouse to enter PoM was actually located a good ways into North Temple of Veeshan (a highlvl area full of raid mobs). I'll never forget the first time I tried to make the mad dash through a fully spawned NToV to get into PoM for the first time. I had studied maps to get a good idea of where to go but otherwise had never been into NToV before. Being a ranger I invised my way as far as I could and ran like all hell soon as got to the see invis mobs who broke it. Ended up with a massive train of tons of mobs including at least 2 or 3 of the big raid boss dragons after me, my god the adrenaline rush was nuts. Unfortunately I made one wrong turn down into a dead end and when I turned around I was greeted by the maws of a whole lot of really hungry dragons lol. Had to get my corpse summoned but it was still a blast and I did make it in after that hehe. Was always my favorite zone to hang out in from there on, not only because of how unique it was and how much I enjoyed it but the fact that back then it was always so quiet because not many people cared to try and get to it let alone figure out how to navigate their way around inside of it.

This. A close second would be Plane of Air with the islands and Serrin the Lunatic halfling guy.
