This is just really poor customer service. DnL has pushed back it's release date too many times. Then they give us all hope by releasing a prequel called SoG that was supposed to be released to be played in November. Then in November they tell us that SoG will be playable on December 8th. Now December 8th comes along and we are told that the servers won't be live until December 13th. Next thing they will be telling us that we can't log in to the servers until some future date. What happen to being able to play SoG for 6 months until Dark and Light is released?
Granted I was one of the people who paid $60 for the "pioneer" offer. Let's face it though this is just getting out of hand. We were told that we would be able to log in and play SoG on December 8th. If all we are able to do is register then they should have said from the start that "December 8th we can register for a key to play SoG, which will be playable starting December 13th". Instead once again we were mislead on the actual date of playing a game. The lack of sticking to a concrete date is just outragous.
The english of the devs and the info/manuels that they post is just horrible. You would think that if you are going to provide a game to an english speaking community you would have someone on hand that speaks and writes proper english. Their own main forums can't even handle loads of people loging onto them to read and post. If they can't even afford to run forums with massive loads of people on them, what makes me believe DnL servers will be any different.
I'm going to be making inquires to the New York State General Attorney, along with the Governer of New York. I'm going to urge them to open an investagation into the business practices of this company, with all the misinformation and false dates of supposed to be released software. New York State tends to come down hard with fines and even closing down businesses that mislead their customes over and over. I don't want Dark and Light to be closed down but I won't standby and continue to deal with poor and misleading customer service.
I personally urge others to seek out their local government to take a look into Dark and Light and their business associates. While I support this game and hope the best for it, I refuse to keep being mislead by shady business practices, and I urge others to not stand by either. We as consumers in America have the right to fair business practices, and when we feel that we are not getting the service that we expect, we have a right to stand up and demand action.

Just my evil side, but ... I can't wait to read the DnL Forums on December 14 -- the day after "Suckers of Ganareth" opens.

Get a life, really. It would do you a world of good.
Welcome to the world of mmorpgs, where there are delays. This happens to every mmorpg and DnL is no exception. The only thing different is instead of delaying it yet again until April(which is well within their right), they are letting 18,881 people(not including the beta testers) try it out beforehand.
I've been playing MMO's for years. Why don't you try reading my post and understanding what I wrote before you tell someone to get a life. Your insults have no effect on me and only make you look immature.
"Suckers of Ganareth" opens."
bahahhaAHha
Rarely insult anyone but my comment definetly stands. People like you are a bit too obsessive to the point its scary. This is not some multinational corporation out for world domination. Just a bunch of guys trying to make a game for peoples enjoyment.
Shorter bronxchulo-
waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
lol
Edit-I've read it several times now, it just gets funnier each time I read it.
ya what about that btw? the chinese supposedly have thier own dnl, but why not their own sog? i have not made sense of that yet.
You guys are getting off topic. Yeah, the customer service leaves much to be desired. First and foremost, do not forget, was the 3 year track record of promises and delays. That never gets old...
Then, the entire pre-order mess. I honestly had 60 dollars in the bank with a click&buy account registered. But, the lack of professionalism regarding the process stopped me from giving them my cash.
Now I hear that accounts were leaked over mIRC before the actual registration on the main pages began. Does that seem right to you?
--Pros-----
It's a new game with big maps and no zones.
--Cons-----
Just about everything else.
No one wants DnL to work out more than me, but they are the ones driving the steak into their own hearts at this time.
Uhhh....That happens ALL THE TIME!
I used to work in retail for Gamestop. Games are always getting delayed. It got to the point were we would just tell people to ignore the adds and just wait for our phone call that it has arrived.
Lets see..I got into that back in 1998...still the same when I left last February. I doubt it has changed since 02/05.
Considering their operations are French and they're located on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean... I don't know how much the NY attorney general can do.
If you're in the US and SoG turns out bad your CC company will return the funds - regardless of the "no refunds" in the terms of agreement thing. All you need to say is the product was never delivered or services were not rendered - or what you received wasn't what you originally bought.
NP3 does not tell their outsourced customer service Alchemical Dream what their plans are. There has been broken communication for a long time - which causes all these problems with the community.
Currently playing: Eve, DAOC, Warhammer
Games I've beaten: AC, AO, CoH, DAOC, D&D, EQ, EQ2, FFXI, FlyFF, GW, Horizons, L2, Ryzom, Shadowbane, SpaceCowboy, SWG, UO, WoW
Stay away from: Eudemons Online, DNL, and Roma Victor
"It's a new game with big maps and no zones."
actually your wrong about that. I know someone in beta and he said it has instances and is much like guild wars even..
I doubt any New York court could close down an off shore business. They'll probably manage you to get your money back, might be able to send a fine over (which wouldn't get payed because they can't enforce it on some small island) and might make the acces to the game forbidden in New York. Above all that you technically prepayed for an april release so they haven't missed the date yet.
I can however understand your unhappiness with this idiocy of postposing dates for what, almost 3 years now ? I believe I read something about refunds somewhere, just check that with Farlan and if they say no, bounce on your credit card and sue them for saying "no refund". You could have known where you were getting in to. NPCube, Alchemic Dream and Farlan entertainment don't have a wonderfull track record in customer support and service. When you signed up for your pioneer account you knowingly agreed to taking a risk (with all the flameboy/fanboy discussions out here I don't think you can say you didn't).
You would think that someone with American logic that buys something from a French speaking company would learn French if they were that interested in the exact terms. Heck, American companies oblige all their foreign customers to know English, if you don't, you don't get acces to their service. They aren't only targetting the English speaking market, they are providing a service to the english speaking community (fact that the server is in France and not in the US or UK should prove that point). Most english speaking companies don't provide a similar service for French, German, Spanish or Italian customers. The fact that the forums can't handle massive loads of people has nothing to do with game server loads, they're ran by two different companies. That being said, I'm curious about their server stability as well.
Have fun in your legal adventure, I won't be getting in to that, then again I posted why I didn't want to get a Pioneer account. You as a consumer have the obligation to yourself to inform yourself about the dangers you might get yourself into before making a purchase, certainly one of the "leap of faith"-kinds you made. Don't forget they are in control of most of your evidence for "postposing" SoG (be happy it's 5 days and not 6 months as usual).
P.S. : There's a fourth company that handles the marketting part of DnL, I can't give you the name now as DnL website is down but I guess you can do some research and be certain to make your enquiries about the correct company. Also make sure, which company told you what and when. My bet is that you have never received a direct communication of Farlan entertainment (the publisher charging you).

Nice to see someone who can reply with sense and not childish posts.
I have the emails they sent me including the main one that has the whole pioneer offer and order email. In that email it even states that my $60 gets me access to SoG which will launch on December 8th. Right there that email could hold up in a court of law.
Granted something might not happen to them right from the start, but every complaint gets stored on recorded and eventually it will blow up in their face.
I also payed on my CC and like others have stated even after I play SoG I still have a right to get a refund for a game that I don't own and have not recieved, regardless if I played SoG or not.
BronxChulo is just frustrated like many other pioneers who were under the impression that we would be downloading and possibly playing SoG today. We did not pull this impression out of our ass, but rather we believed Farlan and AD that this would be the case. I, personally, am under no illusion that I have no power here, nor will I communicate my disatisfaction to my government whether federal, state or local as they too are extremely inept in their customer service.
But I do believe that on Wednesday, 12/14 if Farlan and AD actually have the courage to open the forums on the official site that it'll be a bloody day for them. Also if SoG does not prove out the hype that has been bestowed upon it then, since there is no nda to violate, the rebellion will begin. Currently, many gamesites will not touch DnL and alot of the hype has been created as a result of the players eagerness to see this game. If it is not more than a pretty picture it'll be roasted alive.
I am still eager to roam Ganarath and play Dark & Light, but it has taken alot of the wind out of my sails. I feel sort of like I did just after the release of Horizons.
I miss DAoC
If I was AD, I would stop working for Farlan/NPcube.I know AD only gives out the info they're told to, but alot of people don't know that, and hold them accountable.I feel sorry for them having their credibility questioned because they're associated with companies that're so unprofessional.
I'm calling Arnold Schwarzenegger. Those bitches on reunion island are about to get governated!
Unfortunately, that is the price of doing business.

And what do You think that New Your State General Attorney can do to France company? lols...
I thought it was americans who didnt want international courts!
you people NEED to stop whining about them pushing the release date of SoG back, most of the people who whine about this have no idea of the man-hours it takes to build and de-bug a program, and this is NO exception, so please, until you work for a development team for an MMO that has yet to be released.....STFU......please?
And flame me all you want, i wont be looking back at this post
Stop being an idiot and defending them. It's not about the hours behind working with an mmorpg, it's about lack of communication. You don't put up release dates and trick people into thinking they're real, only to change them without a proper notice. Come on now, they knew whether they'd make it in time for Dec 8th or not, and they should've made an announcement on it.
If Dec 8th was only suppose to be the date for the SoG sign ups then they should've explained that as well, instead of posting vague announcements. They find ways to sneakily post dates and delays. I have still not received my confirmation email and it's been more than 5 hrs. This isn't a good sign at all, and I can't wait to see what happens when the servers actually do go live.
