in EverQuest Next

resist this epic chance to just troll the living crap out of everyone.  At least briefly.

I'd have my guys make a short reveal video, where as "everquest next" slowly lights up on the screen, the camera pans out and while all the characters are dressed in EQ style clothes, with EQ style weapons and names, you start noticing details like, "wait a second, that looks like WOW human models... wait a minute those ARE wow human models?!!"  Then you notice an exact replica of a quest exclamation from WOW over an NPC head off in the distance...  The camera fades all the way out and you see the characters are fighting a reskinned model of onyxia but with vox's coloring, with the name Lady Vox over her head.  Then boom, fade to black, cut the screen, bring the lighting up and empty stage, all developers are gone.  Then just leave it like that for about 5 minutes.

    That or it's actually another expansion pack for EQ2...Both would equally make me laugh

    MMO series over 14 yrs old switching genre isn't new?

     It's not releasing on Aug 2nd it's revealing, no more black box, still in development.

     It's not switching genre, it's still an MMORPG, not a 2D arcade platformer.

    In short, as apocoluster said, nothing new. The crazy hype kicks in for every new upcoming big name MMO.

    Whatever you guys have to tell yourselves.

    I for one am enjoying the excitement.  I've grown used to not having a good MMO to play over the last decade.  One more won't kill me, but I do relish the thought of something that will put the genre back on the right track.

    We don't know when it is coming out, maybe in a few months, or a year, but either way this is the longest black boxing of a AAA mmo in history. Your nit picking my wording, ignoring my point, this is un-precedented.

     It's not switching genre, it's still an MMORPG, not a 2D arcade platformer.

    Sandbox is a different genre or even more a gameplay mechanic than thempark, (which EQ2 was, and EQ1 was only more sandboxy in the same sense that other none UO type mmos before WoW where)

    I know my story was hastily type, but come on, the point was EQN being revealed to be the ultimate themepark, AS A JOKE.

    Thankfully all this nonsense should stop in 28 hours or so.

    The question is, would they be able to make it the 5 minutes of waiting before coming out and saying "it was just a joke"?

     

    The building might have been blown up by then.
