I think it is a matter of interest. There is a lot of people that don´t like to lose all his itens after a lot of work to get them. This is a difficult thing to do cause there always will be hackers and that kind of people who only like to make your game annoying. Seriously after losing my itens a dosen times, I would quit playing that game. MMORPG´s need to have restrictions so that unwanted things may not happen.
Originally posted by Elnator UO definitely had that magic 'something' that so many MMO's lack. I will make this statement: If a gaming company just took the entire concept of UO, skill system, combat, the works. Slapped that exact same setup into a new 3D interface like we are all so used to now. That game would quickly become one of the top MMORPG's out. UO is still the best technical MMORPG out there imo... it's graphics and sound are weak by today's standards.. It's gameplay, however, has yet to be matched.
Exactly what i've been waiting for. Thought there would have been a UO2, but I don't think thats gonna happen.
Basically you need a game like UO before trammel (around 1999). PVP allowed all over, but maybe just ban PVP in dungeons. That was a fault back then, tough to enjoy a good dungeon crawl with murderers jumping ya. You need some safe haven lol. If I could run a new UO2 it would own all, I just can't program, but I have all the idea. If any developers are out there, buy the rights for UO2 and contact me, we will rule the galaxy !
Well...that would explain why you suck so bad at PvP in SWG.
Just kidding, Gunga. Good to see you again. Another SWG refugee here.
SWG was my first MMO, and like you all, I also felt those same feelings. Hard to let a game go after all that.
I guess my biggest thing is Community...without it, the game is nothing. I played SWG solo for like the first year before I ever even talked to another player. Then I found out what I was missing.
I want a new game with community, and complexity. A game to make me think a little...whats out there??
Ha Ha you found me ! I was just looking around for info on MMORPGS and found this great site. Good community. I'm just playing some old school Ultima Online. Its ok, not like the good old days but close. There is nothing out there right now buddy but i'm scanning all the posts for something that may interest me. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks, I just wanted to make people aware of what Ultima Online was like in its early days. I'm seeing alot of talk about Ultima Online lately. Hmmm, think EA will catch on? How about any other developers?
I've decided not to play any MMORPGS right now or any in the future unless they have the same appeal early UO did.
I'm just tired of wasting my time in dead end MMORPGS.
When I read that I almost cried. Rushing back came all the good times I had in UO. That game was beautifuly designed. Honestly I think if one game looks at the sucsessed of UO they could get a lot of market from us old UO guys.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
So anyway, I came across a player (Name in RED = Which means he was a murder and has killed innocents or BLUE named online players)standing next to a Dragon, "hmmmm , what the hell is that guy doing?" 3 Seconds later..... "Kor por" ! and a Dragon standing over my corpse.
Basically same thing happened to me on my first day.
"Where does this portal go?"
Only went to a little outdoor area near a cave. Guy comes up and starts chatting to me and batters me. Didnt understand the red and blue names either. Got my own back about 4 months later when the guild I joined became one of the best along with this guys. The mods removed the town guards for a day and we had a massive guild war, alas we won, but this guy that killed me was the last one left and we hunted him down and looted the hell out of him. Was great. Miss that shit.
I compare everthing to UO too. Nothings beaten it or come close to be fair. To be honest it was ALL down to the community youre in, coz even on a different server I didnt get the same feeling as the one Id been in for months.
Fantastic post! I feel the same way and i've had all of those experiences you talk about. I remember running to my friends house right outside of vesper to visit him and his house collapsed and it was him fighting about three people. I joined in and we won, moved all of his belongings into his neighbors house (peter pan). I also played on chesa at the same time . The rush we got from old UO was amazing, and yes, i don't ever think it'll be replicated. The good news is in the new EA poll they ask if people would pay 29.99 to play an old UO server, pre-ren, supported by EA/Origin. I would. Again, fantastic post! I think i'm going to give that metro server a shot.

My hopes are pinned on this for a Pre Tram UO reincarnation. Should be in beta soon.
Loved your stories man , makes me want to play UO now heh. I have loads of stories from back in my AC days...boy do I miss that game.
I agree with the above poster, if they come through with everything that they say they will I believe that Darkfall might be the next big PvP game.
