NO, 10 000 keys were not ate up in 5 minutes, maybe a couple hundred were.
They are trying to release the keys gradually, the same way they are going to be letting people into servers gradually.
Or do you really expect 18 881 people all rushing to the same newbie zone at the same time.

Never understood why it's called rush hour when it's usually the slowest time of day.
Seems typical for these forums people overreacting, jumping to conclusions, posting old beta screenshots calling them SoG.

First and foremost labeling anyone that believed 10,000 "dumb craps" is not exactly very intelligent, considering Alchemic Dream announced several times 10,000 accounts would be available.
Although putting faith into AD's statements in my personal opinion would not be wise, I wouldn't go to the extent of calling the person a dumb crap.
Furthermore, unless AD has lied again, according to the IRC chats, 10,000 keys were distributed.
Who should we believe? You(judging your linguistics you may very well work at McDonalds) or Alchemic Dream...
You know I cannot figure out why all these one post wonders keep edging the time up . First it was a minute, now they are posting 90 seconds and 2 minutes. In reality the thing was not up 15 seconds max. I type 70 WPM and have a 1.5+ mps upsteam speed and between two attempts it weent from not open to closed. No lag at all either, just like a screeen refresh

AD has given no indication whatsoever that they would be releasing a smaller portion of the SoG keys than 10,000. In fact, all signs seem to point to the fact that 10,000 were released initially and taken within a very short period of time. All the info is down right now (forums, news, etc.) but not too long ago they stated that they would be releasing 10,000 keys initially and would add more as they saw fit. Also, the surprise of the AD members in the DnL IRC at the time of registration points more to the fact that all 10,000 were released than only 500. Having sold out of 8,000 pioneer keys so quickly, I don't think having 500 keys go in one minute would be surprising to them. 10,000 on the other hand, would.

Hopefully you weren't trying to be an ass by calling me a one post wonder seeing as your an elite member... I read these forums alot never post though cause what I need to say has been said. Anyway in the IRC I received the offical time of 1 minute 20 seconds up. And yes I got a key. I trust AD in there handling of the sign ups but not really in the game. *cough* manual, skill set whetever it is *cough*
Edit: ALso I'm sorry Jackdog you didn't make it in... blame the SWG refugees who registered their whole guilds!!
They really should have put the 1 per IP ban back on.

emails are "suppose" to come out tonight, download tommorrow morning (their morning not yours) and game opens on the 13th. I'm willing to bet on late emails and more delays though...

where did the info that SOG was opening on the 13th come from? i got my key but i have not been on the d&l forums for a couple of days
actually, I was in their IRC channel when the signups were turned on. According the the AD reps in the channel, they confirmed that all 10000 accounts were taken in 1min 20 seconds.
now, are they correct? are they as full of sh*t as everyone else involved with DnL? perhaps. But, they also said that another set would be available someday soon for a second wave of settlers. (Probably the first week in January or so).
Believe what you want, but I got mine.. (or atleast I THINK I did... after all, my confirmation email hasnt shown up yet...DOH!)

The emails for the pioneer key took a couple days. So it might be a little while before you get it.
The first 10.000 Settlers are ready to begin their adventure.
