It seems that it went as quickly and as suddenly as it came. As of now, the Settlers of Ganareth registration has been closed, as the developers have reached their maximum. Whether you like this game, or you don't, one thing is certain, the anticipation for it is through the roof.

They were really shocked by this and frantically started looking at the logs if that was a bug. :P
Currently playing:

W00T...I made it...I just kept on signing in and clicking the "back" link for about 10 min prior to 18hr GMT (1pm EST) and got in!!!!!!!!!
Im happy to say i got in too,pressed the Subscribe button after 20 secs it opened hehe

Well what a incredibly unfair way to distribute keys, People for example were still at work when this was all done not that im personaly fussed about it, but im sure people that have been following the game for a long time and wernt lucky enough to click a link at the right time must feel really pissed off right about now.
1) there will be more free keys...just not today
2) many people were ready to get their key at 6pm GMT and got their key. Everyone had 1 minute 20 seconds to get their key. If you missed out, be ready next time, and better luck next time.
For the record I bought a pioneer account and got 1 free key for my guild. I was the only one trying to get one at the time registration went live.

I clicked on the link and got a 'congratulations, you are confirmed for settlers'..etc..etc
It gave me my username and email address..but..is there any more info that will be released (can't exactly log on without knowing more). I would assume they are sending out emails with info but I haven't seen anything about that.

its a bullsh*t noone get any key... only the people who bought one.
in 18:00:20 GMT registration was closed. NOONE can generate 10K keys in 20 second.. I tried refresh page every 10 second from 17:58:00...

Bunch of whiners. You had two options like everyone else, buy a pioneer key(which was open for over 2 days) or take your chances. They are in EUROPE, that's why it was the time it was. They let us know way in advance when they would be giving it away and I knew I would be in calculus class so I risked paying for a pioneer key and being dissapointed since I knew I stood no chance of getting in SOG otherwise. If it was so important to you than you should have bought one too. Everybody had the same chances. On a positive note there will be a lot less complainers in SOG apparently
ONLY if MOST people live in the US. Now you know how EU players feel when servers go down for maintenance during the DAY US time, but during PEAK EU time. By the time US players get home they can play again but ALL EU players are screwed.
What do US players generally say to complaining EU players in this situation, "the game devs and servers are in the US, get over it!!" Well in this case the game devs and servers are in central Europe so it's your turn to "get over it".
Well whatever system of screening they use it's always going to be considered unfair.
If they allowed all the "oldtime" forum members to get in no others would have had the chanse, so how do you know you get the best beta testers using this method?
No matter what method you use you take a chanse, atleast now they got the testers that was most eager to test this game as they all sat there 6PM sharp and tried to get a key.
As many already pointed out, you got 2 chanses of getting into SoG, this was Nr.2 and as such it's up for grabs by anyone.
Sidenote, I was lucky and got into SoG. I haven't been active in the DnL forum or anything as I been busy testing other games out there, so I'm pleased a "tester" like me got a chanse to test this game, but I understand the feeling a oldtimer/contributer to the forum feels as I been there myself a few times, wrote plenty posts, made suggestions, participated in chats and all that and still didn't make it into beta.
Luck is a factor you can't count on, this time I got lucky.
As I understood it, the pioneer accounts would get in right away, THEN 10,000 free SoGs.
Does not seem to be that way though. I hope they;
A. Expand the player numbers as they level up and spread out.
B. Take note of ALL the players that drop out after plaing a while, and replace them.
