Everquest Next = A League of Legends MMO

So far from what I can gather thus far through being here at SOE Live, we may be looking at an MMO very similar to LoL. First off we can look at the limited abilities each class has. Now you can mix and match such abilities but not in combat, leaving you with the 4 combat moves you choose. You also get an additional 4 "supporting" abilities which can be related to the two summoner abilities you can choose in LoL.

Next we have the fact that although there is a sort of trinity in place, there is no direct need for a healer or tank and no class that puts major emphasis on either (healing or tanking). Instead from the information we have been given, it is safe to say most classes have the opportunity to dps, heal and tank with some leaning more towards support or tanking, such as Taric in LoL.

40 classes. Now although it has not been said whether they are all combat, they did take the time to emphasize that with the addition of a new item or ability, it changes the entire game (just like league of legends)

Last but not least it was hinted that the game would change month to month with direct relation to classes and abilities. This leads me to believe that they are planning to release either new abilities or maybe even new classes every month, just like characters introduced in LoL

Questions, thoughts, concerns?

I would not even consider EverQuest Next to be a LoL MMO. The two games have very little in common. League of Legends is a MOBA (Completely different) and the only thing i see similar is 4 attacks(that you can change unlike LoL). That barely makes the two games similar so EQN is definitely not a LoL MMO.

The original EQ had 8 spell slots for classes that casted spells. Those classes ended up with hundreds of different spells to choose for those 8 slots. Unlike this problem in EQN where you get 8 abilities to use throughout the entirety of the game.<- This could be wrong, just going off of what OP said.

    Just sayin......

It will be out on PS4 - 4 and 4 is no coincidence.

Also why did they hide the UI - because it's a console UI, they want to hide it as PS4 reveal is not ready yet.

    Just my 2c.

wow, good observation.  I didn't thought about that.

I tend to agree with OP.. the majority of online gaming friends I have play LoL and Minecraft religiously. Watching the combat and camera postions i was struck at how LoL like it was..and of course minecraftish as well with exploding blocks.

They said they were designing the game for the pc solely, and once that was done then they would look into other platforms

You can have quite a few abilities that your character has access to, but only 4 class and 4 weapon abilities on a bar at one time. You can swap those abilities out as you like and create new builds. You are not, however, stuck with the same 8 abilities from creation to uninstall unless you choose to be.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

    Yep wrong,

There are 40x4 (16) abilities you can gather if you get all classes and max them. Weapons also grants abilities, but the way they explained it those abilities are based on both the class you are using and who made the weapon (crafter or in-game style like Orc vs something I don't remember).
