Originally posted by aeremus While you make valid points it still will be nothing like SWG was if some of those classes are crafting then everyone and their brother can just switch to a crafter and make their own stuff and if its player cities kind of like the demo then they can be destroyed then that means no decorating your house no shops in them because they can be destroyed at a moments notice so I highly doubt housing will be anything like SWG's was.
I see what you're saying about player housing being destroyed. That makes some sense.
However, about crafting in general, many many people don't craft.

They are using the lore and mob types and a large bunch of locations that we all know and love. Same with many of the classes. They are obviously going in a direction that won't feel stagnant a year from when you start playing though. The servers will evolve seperately depending on how players handle events, either ignoring them or helping them along or fighting against them. It's a whole new EQ with guns and stuff. The future past....lol
yes while true many dont craft if it is a class that is unlockable then depending on how you unlock them unless they have to be unlocked and leveled up then everyone can craft if they want so you won't have to find a crafter you can do it yourself
Guild wars 2,World of Warcraft, Everquest, Minecraft, Final Fantasy XI, and Ultima Online.
I can't wait.
Where is in EQN any bit of WoW? Graphic style? Better say Pixar. It don't sound so offensive.
And what part would be Final Fantasy XI? ( i am not really familar with FF)
And you have missed SWG. (Crafting maybe more)
And of course EQ for denominations. :P
Graphic style is very similar to WoW pretty sure that's where they got there idea from.
The class system is exactly like the Job system from FFXI. You can just change your class on the fly and mix different classes together (Just like FFXI)
I actually like the graphics for the most part a fantasy game is going to be somewhat cartoony that's just how it is but compared to wow much much improved

Your rebuttal is anything but. Many mmo'ers just don't craft. So those players WILL need to find a crafter.

This is just silly. They are doing what everyone wanted a sandbox MMO, and just to demonstrate how absolutely pathetic this websites forum users can get they are complaining about it. This is what I have been hearing from this websites users for years now. If they simply remade EQ1 with better graphics people would be whinning about it being the same old same old. SOE is giving it to them, so what is it you don't actually want?

You are missing the point I get that a lot of players do not craft but I am just saying that the system will be nothing like SWG;s was just because of what we know so far in swg if you were a top crafter that is all that toon could really do was craft if everyone has the same ability to craft by just switching instantly to a class then the systme will most likely not be very complex unless you have to somehow level up as it were every class you obtain i.e. wizzards must elevel up using spells and gaining spell xp etc. unless it is something like that it will not be anywhere near how SWG's system was and they said it is comparable to it so I am just very cautious.

I get it... let's hope crafting isn't so lame that all you do is unlock it and then can craft the best stuff in games.

Because it is missing what from EQ? Lore, world, races, classes, etc are all going to be there. Give them some time to show more content. This isn't EQ 3 or EQ + TESO graphics, it is EQN. They said the from start that it would be something new and wouldn't give reason to leave EQ/EQ2 if you love those games compared to if they released EQ3 and it was just an update to an outdated game system.
All of you pretending that graphics have anything to do with EQ are shallow fools pretending your dreams are reality. EQ looked awful and always will, this game is gorgeous and you're a grumpy frumpy.
EQ was the first 3D MMO in the world. Hating on it for no reason isn't going to score you points with anyone.
Meridian 59.

Others just shoot the zombies which are chasing us. Whereas I try to talk to them.

Hating!?! I loved EQ, I am just pointing out that the love had nothing to do with the crispness, or cutting edge qualities of the graphics. It was a step backwards graphically, and I never cared because they presented a rich vibrant world for me to explore and impact in ways that games since have lacked. I am not hating, I am praising what it had... it is said Cleopatra's secret of attraction was her power and I believe it, looks only go so far.

I don't even have to explain the EQ elements.

Bingo!!!
Don't compare it to SWG then it not be is all I am saying.

Dude in the video compared it to SWG... so I will remain optimistic, even though that's a fools game at this point in my mmo career.
I am right there with you not getting hyped up SWTOR cured me of that,
I like to get hyped for a new game. It's fun!
I'm hyped for Archeage.
I just don't BELIEVE the hype.

Are you kidding me? No way. SWG required a UI. SWG had MACROs man!
