Well... I'm not so sure.
I prefer the graphics of the world in EQN but it's just that the very Disney-like characters doesn't really fit in it that well. So, in my eyes Wildstar blends A LOT better. While the characters in EQN just looks misplaced.
IF the world in EQN would follow the style of the characters a tad bit more it would've looked a lot better IMO. (or vice versa)
I think when they add detail to the character models they will fit in even more with the world. Until then you are only seeing basic skins.

I ahve to agree as far as graphics go at least. I dont mind realistic look but in an MMO especially, its ahrd to pull off, and the people at ESO did jnot pull it off.
I think what he is trying to say is, SoE has disrupted the integrity of what was a wonderful mmorpg franchise by applying cartoony gameplay and art style. This is not acceptable to many loyal EQ fans and they want better.
That, and the fact they ripped off Wildstar. I would love to see the creators of Wildstar take EQN to court. They copied there style, gameplay mechanics and even the environments look the same. The characters look almost identical too.
EQN looks more like Darksiders in my opinion. And the environments dont look the same at all as Wildstar lol. WIldstars environments wish it would look as good as this and EQN is achieving that with voxel based sandbox world. The textures in EQN look way more organic than wildstar too. Oh and Wildstar is copying WoW.

Oh, what mechanics might those be? I'm genuinely curious. By the by, you can't copyright an art style.
EQN is a sandbox, so any comparisons with Wildstar/WoW are by definition superficial, as they won’t even play the same.
I am an animator, and have studied the art and mechanics of animation for 20 yrs, to my eyes both Wildstar and EQN made the right choice with their styles as it allows for greater consistent and immersive character and world integration, with proportions and animations that avoid a stiff, un-natural look common to the limitations of mmo models. (Also the un-canny valley, which I do not think worth tolerating for "dark" and "mature" styles half the time).
Wildstar’s entire humour, tone and personality depends on such stylization, and the models and environments are clearly build on the same classical animation principles. The problem is that the engine doesn’t do the style justice, compare the pre-rendered trailer to the game footage. EQN on the other hand has far better rendering of the models, allowing for a much more cinematic animation style, which will appeal not just to kids, but anyone that appreciates Pixar and DreamWorks films (so basically anyone with broad taste).
But with EQN there is a clash with the models and the environments, at least at first glance. However given the use of Voxels, acrobatic movement and well animated action combat the entire impression is a high quality style that reflects the mechanics. SOEmote alone justifies the facial designs, allowing for machinima and webisodes that will look almost professional, I for one cannot wait to see what people can pull off.
SOE wish to avoid the mistakes of the past, such as EQ2’s short sighted and quite frankly off putting lack of a bold unified art style, as well as engine issues, and for once the EQ franchise can show gameplay footage alone side other games and not look by far the most dated, (don’t deny this, the SOE live montage of games showed the problem very clearly).
That fact remains there are more arguments in favour of a stylized look than something more “realistic”, even at this stage in technology. This may sound unfair but a lot of people have been coming of seemingly embarrassed at the thought of being court playing something that looks childish to the ignorant and narrow in taste, and they need to stop being so insecure of their perceived “maturity”.
