When :

- someone just blasted your newly built house;

- there's no terrain to build on because everybody destroys it for the fun of it;

- the world is cluttered with meaningless player built structures;

- people will complain about this game being an overly exaggerated fantasy GTA.

    From what I've heard for SOE Live:

    -No word on housing yet. For all we know upkeep could come in the form of blessing your home. Thus keeping it from being blasted.

    -Terrain regenerates over time.

    -Only people I've seen complaining so far are those that haven't played. At least those that do play will have a valid reason to.

    Dave has already stated that you cannot do anything to another players house unless you are given permission by that player. I think it was in reference to a 'Kerran Tornado' question...

    There are 3 types of people in the world.
    1.) Those who make things happen
    2.) Those who watch things happen
    3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

    Player housing won't be destructible. They've already stated that they can make areas immune, otherwise Qeynos would be smoldering ruin within 15 minutes of launch. They also have stated very plainly that they don't want to make a game designed for griefers.

    It's clear some of the Trolls have not watched much of the reveal content.

    It's a valid concern, but considering that stuff just respawns 5 minutes after being destroyed.   It'll probably be house owner that laughs after someone takes spends an hour destroying their house only to watch it pop right back up 5 minutes later.

    I will not have to wait until beta or release, I'm laughing right now .......   I really wish when people post negative things, because it is now the cool thing to do, would do so after reading or listening to at least half of what is being put out by reliable sources.  I do not mind the negativity or even complaining, just base it on fact and not fiction.

    Now imagine an entire guild chew through a village.

    Yep - fun for the people doing the chewing, no difference to the villagers, since it's just back up in 5 minutes. win-win.  I think people will get tired fairly fast of spending hours destroying stuff just to watch it respawn almost instantly.

    I was kind of hoping for the ability to burn the world down.

    It would be a bad move on Sonys part to make items purchased from the cash shop destructible.  So houses will be fine.

    I know, pure speculation but I'm expecting this exact thing.  If you think the bottom line is anything but money to Sony, you are fooling yourself.  Everything that is EQN has been built to make SOE money ..... through extensive research on maximizing profits.  Right down to the kiddies asking mommy for $20 to buy a house to set on their newly acquired plot of land.

    Yes you will be laughing at things that will not happen, gg Sir, you won.

        - Unless allowed, housing is not destructable

      -  Terrain resets

      -  Comparing it to GTA after the initial announcement, thats laughable

    Same here, I was hoping for some world destroying abilities that open up later on.

    Terrain regenerating after 5 minutes kind of defies the whole destructability concept.

    Trees and such flora regeneration is fine but if a bridge is destroyed, it should remain destroyed until someone rebuilds it in my opinion.

    While yes many may have fun destroying at one point you had enough and no one likes to play in a constantly destroyed world, and beside many do like building so it balances out at one point.

    On player Housing, I would not be against the "immunity" idea, but on the other hand if formal wars are declared between Towns/guilds/alliances (should these even exist) then it would be great that buildings do become destructible and people could potentially destroy or lose whole towns.

    Of course there is a relation to the effort that is required to rebuild such towns and that touches the economical systems a bit. If it is relativelly effort easy to build houses, then there should be not problem with them being destructible.

    in game communities will have another reason to organize local guard/militias etc together to protect their assets, such as a village a town a keep.

    Gives also reason to people to join Guilds and remain in them of all classes and professions, from Combat characters to Crafters and beyond.

    And such a mechanism would also be compatible with both casual and hardcore players alike.

    If we start going in to maintenance and the such then the game cannot sustain casual players...

    The key is player collaboration. You may have a guild with 40-50 people whee a core of 10 are hardcore then 20 are moderate and the rest casual. The hardcore maintaining the village or town and the casuals being there when they are most needed contributing to the town as they can play.

    All in synergy.
