Where's the "No it will crash and burn" choice on your poll?
I'm sure a lot of people were super excited and optimistic and a few made polls like this about SW:tor 2 years before it was due to be released as well.
SWG had a lot of great sandbox ideas, but it was poor implemented and SOE did a ****ed up job. In comparison, EQ Next sounds too have awesome sandbox ideas, but can SOE actually do it right this time around? Another thing- Planetside 2 is really unpolished and honestly the game shouldn't have been released at the time.
My main concern - Can SOE not screw up and actually polish the game, other than that, I'm quite excited over the game.
All I know is that for years and years I have been hoping for a return to what originally made the genre great, and for tthe first time in a longtime i think that it's a possibility.
Wow, that's actually a big deal to me (meaning the second part, placing stuff from Landmark in the open world in EQN). Looking forward to learning more about that.
but I want see gameplay and not a list of game concepts and not a tech demo

I want to see actual gameplay and detailed descriptions of mechanics. Soe are well known for pushing out junk. Even the fabled SWG was terrible until 6 months after release.

Same here. I'll be dedicating my time to actually crafting things i will use ingame. Just remember, landmark is essentially a free trial of the game, minus a few odds and ends.
Let's just say the verdict is still out, at least for me. Guess I had the doe eyed enthusiasm kicked outta me long ago, now more of a "prove it" sort of person.

I think people are going to be more disappointed than expected.
I can't recall the last time a proposed feature not only was released as planned, but better than planned. And once again, people's imaginations are getting the better of them because they see a concept and scale it up to it's possibilities in their mind.
People hear mix n match abilities, 40 classes and think "Wow look at that variety". What's far more likely is that each "class" is tied to a single weapon set. A "staff" wizard might be called an enchanter, with a wand, he's now a conjuror and so on. Think GW2, but instead of one class having 4 weapon skill sets, they have one and they just call each one a different class. I'm pretty certain this is their line of thinking and all the people expecting so much more are going to be sorely disappointed.
Subterranean layers! Again, people are thinking it's going to be so much more than it is. It just won't be. It'll be akin to entering a cave in any other game, but you get there by smashing the ground. What's the difference between zone 1 and zone 2? A hole. It WILL be fun to play in a world like that, but it's not going to be much more than that.
Rallying Call! This is like GW2's Living World. A global public event that lasts for a long time . . . that's actually exactly what ANET is doing - not to mention their 2 week updates for side content.
No trinity, but roles will remain! No they won't. It will be just like GW2, tanks will "control" mobs a little more than pure dps, but in the end people will only want dps because everyone will learn how to avoid getting hit so there's no need for tanks or healers.
Unlocking classes and abilities. This is a built in cash shop gating maneuver. If EQN announced sub with no cash shop, then it would be awesome, because it would be the game. But you can put money on it, you will be able to unlock via cash shop.
Every feature that you read or hear about but don't see actual gameplay of, needs to be thought of as if it will be a fraction of what is being proposed.

Good post. Especially the part about unlocking classes and abilities clearly being a design decision they made for the sake of their cash shop rather than for the sake of the game. Knowing that the game is "free to play" it's all too obvious what they are planning to do with that. The very best/coolest skills-abilities-classes you can unlock will be virtually impossible to unlock through gameplay (although technically possible it will be totally impractical for most people) but there they will be in the cash shop for you to get whenever you decide you're willing to fork over the money for it.
It's just depressing.
And the subterranean stuff. Yeah, they make it sound so cool but when you get down to it...all it really is, is randomly generated dungeons. I mean, it's not a bad thing but if you remove all the hype-spin and look at what it actually amounts to, it isn't that big a deal.
Oh and the Rallying Call thing. Oh look, the world is no longer static, it can change. Of course it has to change according to pre-planned events and it will change to one of a few pre-planned outcomes. All controlled by the devs and the game with the players influencing whether it will result in <outcome 1> or <outcome 2>. Ok, again, it's not a bad thing. It's better than nothing. But if you look past all the smoke and mirrors it's really not as dynamic as they are trying to make it sound.
I haven't completely given up hope that this might provide me with some fun but I'm afraid it's not going to be the earthshaking, genre redefining game that Smedley was telling us it would be.

I can´t wait to hear more about "visceral PvP concepts" Dave Georgesen mentioned in the last interview.
Also big plus on actually placing stuff from Landmark in the open world of EQN, also from the same interview.
I´m satisfied, this is SWG reloaded but without the NGE (and errrm without space combat.. although.. maybe.... X-)

So if I understand this poll, the choices are:
"EQN will kick ass"
[ ] Yes it will
[ ] Yes it will
[ ] Yes it will
and finally the last option
[ ] Yes it will
