Ive been reading through topic these days about EQ and all of stuff about it. All i can say is that i am pretty much excited (but not over-hyped). I liked those innovative and creative ideas they showed up at convention. I, also, really cant care less about art style and all of that stuff (i may even find it similar to older EQs, but its probably just me).
However, more on topic. What can probably make or break game for me is a payment model. I know that it will be f2p, but my question is: will SOE keep up with their 'Freemium' model as it is at EQ and EQII? In my opinion, it is toxic, in state as it is in those two games and it is nothing more or less than a subscription game behind f2p mask. Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against those people that can afford to play monthly subs, it is just that i dont want to pay monthly fees for an online game. First, there is far more cheaper options, even when it comes to freemium model, than SOE one. Second, i dont think that one game is worth of paying subs, not even MMO.
So, if someone knows more about this, please provide me with some more info about this topic, i would be gratefull. If SOE decide to go for some more convinient model, that would be great. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies guys...
However, i am perfectly fine with f2p system as long as it goes with a very small restrictions (Rift for ex.). On the other side SOE's "`you cant send mail, you cant use/equip epic items, you cant use AH, you cant have spell skills, you cant have AAs (which they allowed anyway later on) unless you go gold for x months... well ok, fine... you can send mail if you go silver" system bugged me greatly. I am fine even with locking of some (but not like 80% of them) classes/races etc. But for Svarog's sake dont butcher my gameplay in cause of some awfully designed freemium mode.
Well, we are still about to see how will they mix f2p and semi-sandbox game. There can be plenty of asset/cosmetic/build ideas for selling. Plus i am eager to see how will that "Creative Studio" or whatever that thing where you can sell/buy your stuff. But i sincerely hope they will not go with that freemium stupidity. F2P is fine, but freemium is an plague.

More convenient models? lol
Admit it, you just greedy XD
Well, i probably am... who knows
However, since Diablo III crap, i am skeptical about buying/selling stuff ingame. We'll gonna see how it all turns out.

I wouldn't really mind the freemium model, where it's generally a good idea to sub if you intend on being a serious long term player.
Long as they stay away from that item enchant business where you have to buy tons of cash shop items to enchant a weapon to +10 or something and failure kills all previous work (Which is really the main pay to win that you see out there). The other stuff in cash shops usually isn't a big deal.
With the concept of a destruction / construction on the main world, and that different servers will progress differently, I'm wondering if SOE will be able to offer 'expansions' in the traditional sense. Need another city somewhere? They will invoke a Rallying Point and the city gets built. But how does SOE monetize an in-game event? I don't really know what they might be thinking. I'd hate to see any kind of Pay-to-Participate thing,
Some random guesswork on what we might see in the cash shop for EQN:
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
All I know is the had better put it on Station Pass(tm) and give us paying customers some things free like the DLC's in DCUO or new races and classes(if they go that far).
I'm hoping people that have been paying since the beginning of EQ1 and never interrupted their payments get priority for the beta.
Your problem is you want something for free, but then you also want them to cater to your list of preferences. You get what you pay for. This is why I prefer a subscription based model. They get my money monthly and they have to earn my continued sub fee by supporting and updating the game. With F2P you have no voice and and no basis on which to make demands. You're just fodder for the whales they try to hook in the cash shop.
In my opinion, i think that best possible solution would be GW-esque b2p or any similar way of one-time payment (not speaking of one-time payment format of EQ/EQII, it was equally awfull as non-premium).
However, we wont see those most deffinatelly

I could not have said this better, Thank You!
Could not agree more and also people expect it for free now because all the other MMO's bar a few are free. I'd be happy to pay like in the old days on the legends servers and pay that bit more to support a good game and have good customer service. I understand that not everyone can afford to pay subscription but sadly that's life, you have to sacrifice things every now and then and cannot always have what you want in life without working for it.

EQ2 has opened up a lot since the F2P first happened. Race/class restrictions are gone (minus xpac specific), gold/storage restrictions are gone, the spells and items are only locked to a point, and are more than enough to get through the normal content. The mail restriction keeps the spam mail out and the broker is something that indeed has to be paid for.
This relates to EQN because although other MMOs may have more freedom they may not have the updates and added content. Part of the reason SoE's games have good content is because they make the sub worth it. F2P gets more people playing however so it's good to have both models and keep both sides happy. Hopefully EQN will have the same Freemium options to let people decide how much they want to pay.
Dave said something a while back that there may not even be a payment matrix for EQN which is strange. No more word on what that may mean.
They might be hoping to monetize primarily through the Station Shop and Player Studio. If they get enough buy-in among Landscape users, they can sell player-made items and structure templates (for 60% commission) as well as their own in-house generated stuff.
