The new buzzwords

dinamsdinams Member Posts: 1,362

Remember how "Dynamic" and "innovative" were the 2010-2012 buzzwords

Well that is too old and totally not cool anymore

The new buzzwords now are "voxels" and "sandbox"

Rejoice

"It has potential"
-Second most used phrase on existence
"It sucks"
-Most used phrase on existence

Voxels isn't a buzzword. That's like saying that a chicken is a buzzword. It's not a concept like "dynamic" or "innovation", it's a technology. It's a term used for a computed volume (3D) with a texture on it, the word come from: Volumetric Picture Element.  Same thing goes for sandbox, although a sandbox definition is a bit more contested.

Nadia is right, Emergent can be used as a buzzword, because it's a concept, but from the interview I've read SOE knows what it mean...unlike most people around here.

I used to put a cover on my sandbox when I was done playing with it so the cats wouldn't use it as a litterbox. Too bad I can't stop SOE from doing the same to EverQuest.

time will tell, the game itself may not appeal but I love the idea of Public Quests

I'll take anything for endgame fun -- beyond Raiding, PVP, and Gold Farming Grinds

even if WAR flops -- I hope their ideas march forward to other games

I was just about to say emergent is the new dynamic. Why do I feel like I've been down this road before? I think SOE took a page out of ArenaNet's marketing book. I should just prepare myself for the disappointment now........

Public Quests were in EQ long before WAR. Ring War in Velious.

    i guess

but that was a player initiated quest series event that scaled into a larger event

    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=934

there was nothing "group" about the earlier part of the ring series
