complete ANARCHY at the DNL forums..

Cahos flares at the DNL forums currently. Alot of mixed feelings are being thrown around.. some furious about not getting into SOG, some angry about the delay and some just down right CONFUSED people. Total anarchy, but there are also some very positive vibes there too so I think all in all things are gunna go well.

Those boards are so slow, I don't have the patience to watch the trainwreck. I'm afraid if I spend that amount of time waiting for the next post to load, I'll miss something important... like World Peace or a Black Sabbath Reunion Tour.
Hey, wait till the game releases and then criticize the game as much as you want, same goes for those who defend a game as if they were the owners of the company. I can't stand those gamers who believe they are "pro" and have the right to hate a game just because... well, they have no reasons for doing so, they just hate the game.

I think it's unethical for a game to ask people to PRE ORDER a game that's barely begun alpha testing in order to get a spot in the BETA test that hasn't even opened yet.
That's just wrong. I don't care if the game is the greatest thing to hit the market. It's unethical. As is the price of the game. $60 to PRE ORDER?????
I'm a consumer. I have every right to voice my opinion. Whether you like it or not.

Apart from the fact that ethics are purely a subjective question, they gave the right to purchase a pre-order, people could choose to buy or not to buy. And if you had chosen to not buy the pre-order, you still could play for free to SoG. Would it have been more ethical to impose the pre-order? to not give the opportunity to pre-order? why don't you let people judge what they think is fair and what is wrong instead of criticizing the game as if you were right?
I didn't criticize the GAME. I have yet to SEE the game so how can I criticize it? I criticized the PRODUCERS OF THE GAME for requiring a Pre-order to guarantee a spot in the frippen BETA. THAT is what I criticized. On top of that they only gave out like 1200 free keys.
Regardless of whether they gave free keys out or not I could really care less. I think it's reprehensible that a company encouraged players to pay *in excess* of current market rates for a game that isn't even out of alpha!
I criticize the PLAYERS more though... anyone who pre-orders based on what they read on a website about a game that nobody has seen yet is excercizing very poor judgement, in my opinion.
Why do you keep insisting that we're somehow criticizing the GAME when we're criticizing the COMPANY... not the game itself?

UPDATE: complete insanity on the forums currently.. i guess alot of people (including myself) were under the impression that the client download would be ready at 6pm UTC or GTM time whatever.. but as of right now no offical update on what is going on, alot of very angry people on the forums but also people trying to calm things down.. hopfully all goes well.
That has no sense. Pre-orders guaranteed a place in SoG as if you have taken a free-key, both were finite, but none of them was compulsory. Again, if you didn't want to pre-order the game you could have waited to get a free key, those who bought the pre-order knew they were buying DnL, not SoG, or, they had enough money to risk and buy the pre-order to be the first to get the SoG key. Apart from that, why do you say they have given 1200 instead of 10000? you hate them so much that you think they are liars without any evidence of what you are saying, just rumours (or even less than that).
Exactly, that's your opinion, and I don't think you can insult or judge someone being based on your own opinion.

because if not.. ive seen alot worse than this on forums of pretty much every game ive played..after pretty much every update/nerf/buff.
Ok, so I went over there. It took me 15 minutes to read 2 not very big threads. I thought MMORPG.com was slow but the DnL website is torture. I don't know what they're all on about over there, but it has nothing to do with World Peace. Even the thread titles are nasty sounding.
I agree with most everything you post fulmanfu but the DnL forums have been pretty crazy lately. From the perspective of somebody registered in 2003 things have been rather hysterical. Far too many 1337 kiddie types for an old man like me. Maybe we just played different games? I'm sure there have been worse. I've just not experienced much worse personally. Hopefully it will settle down once the grab has gone and the methylphenidate abusers dissipate.

well i have played some good games that went through rough phases.
i remeber right when i was quitting CoH they did some nerf where the forums exploded, a bigger CoH fan could tell you exactly which one im sure. ..SWG forums could put DnL's to shame as far as this go's too now and at various times throught its history. DaoC at one time, when pretty much every single server was ruled (and overly populated) by albion was a total mess. and those are games you could play, right now people have nothing to do but wait, hope, post, and moan.
Its a little amess there sure, thats the nature of these games and their forums. you want to see a real mess, i have a feeling if this game doesnt show some serious promise you are going to have half the fanbois bashing it and all the haters gloating(weee weee i said it would sux and it! i love misery)
but as far as just the speed on their site/forums? i can't stand it , which is why i have made exactly 3 posts there in about 3 years.

Personally I've never been a hang around the forums to bitch and moan type. That seems a tad sad to me. Along with the long-winded goodbye messages. I simply press the cancel button and never visit the forum again.
I only played CoH for a couple at release. I got an invite to come back in September for a free week. I quite enjoyed it so resubbed for a month a few weeks afterwards only to find that they had erased my main and a couple of alts. No help from CS. I pressed the cancel button again.
SWG I played at release for quite a few and pressed cancel. I loved some of it, hated some of it. The biggest missed opportunity yet in my opinion. DAoC is my mainstay but I may have missed the rough patch you mention as I played DAoC US from release but went over to DAoC Europe when it launched. I'm now back at DAoC US playing classic. As for the real mess scenario you mention, I'm not even going there it's just too scary and it's past the witching hour here and I'm in my PJs ready for bed.

Update: Even more flames start flaring and more anarchy arises as more confusion over the ACTUAL time that the free sog accounts can enter. Essentially the website said free sog accounts can enter at 6 am tuesday or whatever, but thats when they say maintence will happen. The forums are in utter CHAOS currently, but still a strong community of supporting people helping out too! we'll just have to see what happens the 12-13th.
Nah... no one's talking about that stuff anymore. They're all lamenting about how long the torrent is taking. It seems hardly anyone grasps the concept of file sharing. Greedy tossers.
